What i love about the opening ceremony of this 29th Sea Games is that it promotes unity. Unity is very important as it keeps us stronger as one unit, not only the unity in our very own country but the unity of the communities of the southeast asian regions will keep us rising up and stand tall in the eyes of the world. So this unity and togetherness that we have, i hope can be keep forever. And despite our differences, we need to respect others, our people and our neighbourhood countries. Because the idea of establishing Sea Games was to promote togetherness as one region, not to fight and merely blame others. Lets us celebrate our diversity and respect our differences! 😊 #risingtogether

I love the fact that they really showcase Orang Asli and Sabahan natives culture (the bajau seaman and Lepa-Lepa) and not to forget the Sarawakian elements as well in the opening ceremony 💯🤗

I am french and I'm a sport enthusiast. The 29th and 30th sea games opening were all good. They are different from each other but offered their own unique vibes. This Malaysian opening is definitely word class - very modern and expensive looking. I did enjoy the more lively and energetic vibe of the Philippine opening. They were so happy and fun to look at. My favorite part is the Manny Pacquiao torch lighting. Good luck to all the participating nations. I feel very sad that there are some racist people in here.

SEA GAMES started without that mordern-ish perspective so this year is perfect to bring back the enjoyment and passion that was present when this was started. It's not really the competition of the best opening ceremony, but to emphasize the essence of every sports to the people, community, and nation. Good message! 💞

I also love the cultural remix of Mia Palencia's "So Many Hands" in the Parade of Nations. I love the blend of traditional songs of different Southeast Asian nations during that segment.

I was there last night , and oh Lord ...everyone was cheering at an ultimate euphoria! Especially when the horses of the Bajaus opened a path through the water, followed by the beautifully decorated armadas ..simply magical. I practically lost my voice this when i woke up this morning ( due to non stop cheering and also partly due to singing Negaraku at the top of my lung), but every bit of last night will forever be implanted in my mind, seeing everyone, EVERYONE cheering for our team (when they walked into the stadium) regardless of our differences was simply a moment I would never forget. Last night's opening ceremony reminded me of SUKOM 98, I was barely 8 years old back then and somehow when I was at the stadium last night, my mind was triggered and i started singing to my self " standing in the eyes of the world" and "bersatu hati masa menyaksi, di puncak jaya kita kan bersama..." I love this country very much and i believe all of us do too. To all millennials, we are the future of this beloved motherland of ours, lets work hard and MAKE MALAYSIA GREAT AGAIN!! p/s to our Indonesian brothers, we sincerely apologize for the mishap. I believe the working committee of KL 2017 has definitely had learn their lesson from this. So, be a bigger person, forgive us and stop bashing us Malaysians. Good luck too all Indonesian athletes and all the best in beating us in the court. Hiks Gue canda aja ya, jangan ambil hati kok.

@@KristineB917 Yes. As hafiz mentioned, there was an interpreter./emcee on a different view. What we are seeing is just a different side of the program. I have seen other SEA games and it's not uncommon to have different views of what the audience see and what TV station shows to the public.

Of course it’s all about technology. It was 2017 so whoever at the forefront of technology wins the race. It’s the sign of time where high-tech shows for big events like this was needed to have impact on the 80,000 capacity stadium. We don’t have huge population to gather hundreds of thousands of volunteers to perform. What we do own though is the technology, so we use that to best effects. And we also have world class facilities and in fact Bukit Jalil Stadium won the World’s Best Stadium the year we hosted SEA Games.

@MR P That's not a good enough reason... If creative enough, a cauldron of smaller size could be had within the indoor arena, plus most olympic cauldrons are water proof and can continue burning in the rain.

Having real Live fireworks which can be seen, heard and felt by everyone in and around the stadium is some sort of a sign of a grand ceremony too.

The lighting of the PH cauldron is real. It's just that the typhoon is coming soon. No creativity you said? We just broke the traditional way of lighting without the torch relay, instead, we fused it while singing the SEA Games theme song which is more meaningful and memorable -- another first in SEA Games history.

It's a good thing the organizers said we will make it best indoor opening ceremony for sea games 2019, hehe. I am happy and proud that every country has different style or diversity in showcasing opening ceremony for sea games. This will show the world not only asean countries talents and diff culture, but also asean countries can offers world class indoors and outdoors facilities. Always looking forward for sea games events because this is the time we show the world our unity,love,& respect to one another despite our different beliefs and personality, our talents in sports, and of course the diversity style in opening ceremony every country has to offer..

I watched both KL2017 and PH2019 in screens. While I still love the opening of 30th SEAG, the Parade still feels different when held on an actual stadium
