"2D Rim Light" animation preset for After Effects!
One-click to a customisable rim light and simple shadow that adds a ton of drama to any layer in After Effects. Works great for both static and rigged/animated characters. Change rim and shadow color, softness, angle, and depth. Add it right on top of any other color corrections. Lightweight and simple to use!

This is quiet cool, but if you're looking for something similar CC Light Sweep does pretty much the same and its included with AE.

I'm using this preset and loving it! It would be amazing if you could access the gradient from the controls panel, so you don't have to expand Layer Styles to adjust the gradient. Would it be possible to see in a future version?

Can I ask what the difference between this and something like layer styles inner shadow our inner glow is?

For sure! This is a convenient control that applies inner shadow and gradient layer styles automatically, along with a common set of controls for easy access. It also links the angles of both layer styles under one angle control, and sets them so that they are always opposite each other, reinforcing the lighting direction. Big time saver if it’s an effect you use often!
