Here's Eurorack's smallest delay module with the 2hp Delay module. It's 2hp (who'd have guessed!) and features time, feedback and mix controls all with CV inputs to control the features. It goes from a a few milliseconds up to nearly a second and has feedback that will go up to infinity which drives and clips out the circuit (which you can exploit for some nice noise FX and sample fodder.

You have to admire the reality that the module is so small, they couldn't even fit the word _Feedback_ across the width of it. *FDBK*

Sounds great and a bit of a bargain in terms of cost and space. What other reverb and delay modules do you like? Where did you get the collection of sounds from that you fed into the delay?I really like the plucky synth and the thumb piano sounds. That distorted synth line at 5.25 is badass too. I also liked the 5.35. A really beautiful collection of sounds to really show this delay off with.
@DivKid
@DivKid 5 жыл бұрын
The collection of sounds were from one sequence/riff I had patched up and the rest were default sounds on the Qu-Bit Nebulae v2. I have a lot of FX I really like. This might be useful (although needs an update really lots has come since then) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mJeon5mAmdLdimw.html

It would be really good if you did a recaps every 6 months for your favourite effects, oscillators, filters etc and anything new one the market that you have and how it compares etc. It would be good if they were condensed into less than 200 minutes.

Synchrotek sucks, I recommend MFB delay, cheap and ok
@AttilaHanak

hehe I kinda agree, I already have the Synthrotek echo and it's pretty finicky to set up, but I guess that's what they're all about and I do love its sound. This 2 hp one does look promising though, although I wish it was available in a stereo-delay format as well, then I'd jump on it
@schtickkicker
@schtickkicker 6 жыл бұрын
Where did you get your MFB delay? I was having a tough time tracking one down the other day... Also, can you describe the character/function of the 'freeze' on it? Thanks!
@mareknygus329
@mareknygus329 6 жыл бұрын
at musicstore.de, freeze just freezes current delay buffer, so it works like simple sampler. Only issue is some DC offset on output and I still I don't know how to use FB send/return... Anyway if you don't want to spend a lot of money and you are into DIY, digitaldruid delay electricdruid.net/product/digidelay-pcb-chipset/ is not bad
@DivKid
@DivKid 6 жыл бұрын
Synthrotek EKO/ECHO and DLY are PT chip based. This is characterful delay with short delay times and lots of noise and break up (which is good fun to exploit) at it's longer times (which aren't very long). This is much cleaner and longer and has CV over everything. It comes down to the character of delay you're looking for really.

Hello, yesterday I received 2hp delay, but I found some differences in the internal circuit of the module...in the images on the site it's different, I'd like to understand why. Thank you
@DivKid
@DivKid Жыл бұрын
if the circuit looks different it's likely they needed to change the components used to continue making the module. Parts shortages are a huge issue facing electronics far beyond the modular or music tech industries. They have had to change a certain chip or set of parts to make the module. But unless it's announced as a new v2 or something it will be the same performing design as it always was.

The 2hp modules are a very interesting concept, I'm just sad that the build quality is so bad. Many reviews online mention the knobs touching the metal plate. Your mix know also looks like it is not centered. I wonder why that wasn't possible in the assembly process. Makes it feel a lot less amazing.
@chemicalBR0
@chemicalBR0 6 жыл бұрын
I have 3 of them (tune, kick and pluck) and the build quality really isn't that bad. (sure it could be better but it's not deal breaking bad) especially when you consider how cheap they are. because the 2hp modules use mini pots there's no way to secure them while they solder the board on a full size pot you would bolt the pot to the panel before soldering, that way all the components are held aligned. (with no nut on a mini pot that is impossible) a pot that is big enough to have a securing nut wouldn't fit in 2hp. on the 3 modules I have some of the knobs are indeed a little wonky but the hole in the panel is big enough that there's still enough room for it to travel without grinding against the side. so out of 8 micro knobs between 3 modules none of them have problems. for the money you pay for these things they are well worth it. IMO (the most expensive of them are still only around 130 pounds most are below 100) you get what you pay for as they say. the only thing that bothers me about them is that those little knobs can be hard to access once everything is patched up.
@VictorSteiner
@VictorSteiner 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the building background. I didn't know that. Still, next to an Erica Synths the same size it looks kinda bad. My 2hp div knob is really really skewed and touches/grinds on the border of the metal a bit. Since yours all don't touch I guess it isn't usual.

VictorSteiner I’ve had more problems with the Pico modules than the 2hp ones, but I guess it’s the luck of the draw ... really like the 2hp drum modules for the space saving, though I have them spread apart in my case to allow easier access. Happy patching 🙂✨
@NutritionalZero

The build quality isn't bad in any way. They're not "high end" yet they're not cheap either. They are what they are: if you have 2hp of space and you need something, you'll find it. There are more expensively manufactured modules and there are cheaper modules, but these ones are 2hp and to hold them up to any other standard is unfair since smaller is not always cheaper and doesn't have the same costs, margins, or production constraints. They do exactly what they say on the tin. I'm more than happy to purchase from this company when I need a cheeky number to fill out a setup. It's a no-brainer really.
@VictorSteiner

NutritionalZero I didn‘t want to discredit the whole line or the company for what the modules DO, I just said that how they are assembled looks cheap and in my situation if the poti even touches the metal I wonder how that is something that gets through quality control. I‘m still looking to get more 2hp modules if you guys say that they aren‘t soldered straight but also normally don‘t touch the metal ring. Thanks for the video!

if only one in the system PICO DSP for me as I like the other FX. Just for Delay, this gives you 3 CV inputs. PICO gives you stereo out and more delay types.

Pico only gets 300ms of delay. I don’t expect that much out of this few hps, but for me 300ms barely sounds more than a reverb. I’m leaning the 2hp.

this module should cost 30€... no more
@DivKid
@DivKid 5 жыл бұрын
why should it? Because you can have a mass manufactured pedal for that amount cheaply? Does it have CV over everything? I'm all for discussion pricing but it always seems when big sweeping statements are made about price it's usually through lack of understand of what goes into it. I'm they'd love to sell hundreds/thousands and drop the prices right down but that's not the modular scene, it's not that big.
@blackcat4589
@blackcat4589 5 жыл бұрын
Yes I know the modular scene is not that big as the mass manufactured pedal industry, but, am looking at an SMD, pick 'n' place robot made, easy design PCB, module? If so, I would expect to pay for it 30/40€, if it's full hand made, I'll pay for it 60€. I'm well aware about the amount of work under this type of products, and the price for components, that's why I think prices are usually too high. Also, high or low price, is linked on how much you earn and, for most euro-people out there, money is not a problem. Last but not least: why everytime someone say: "too pricey!" someone else have to say: you don't know this and that? Just say honestly: this is a rich man hobby!
@DivKid
@DivKid 5 жыл бұрын
oh yeah there's no getting into modular if you're on a budget. It's a near pointless and frustrating experience if you're struggling to piece enough together to make something satisfying. There's more than just material cost though, you have staff to pay, storage, shipping, development time, licenses for particularly circuits or code used in DSP potentially. It's totally fair to say "this thing is worth $XYZ to me" but that's not really going to lineup with how a company manages to price something. Out of curiosity what do you think the profit margin is on the module?
@blackcat4589
@blackcat4589 5 жыл бұрын
When I say " I'm well aware about the amount of work under this type of products", I mean I know that "There's more than just material cost" and you have to pay staff, storage, shipping, development time, licenses, social media management, promotion at various fair, interviews, prototypes, free demo modules, and so on. I think the profit margin is as high as you are able to manage in a good way all these things.There's who is able to have bigger profit than others, there's not a rule about that. When it comes to manage prices there's also a problem of supply and demand: I produce 100 modules and if I put the price at XXX people still buy my product: so why do I have to lower the price? Also, as you surely know, in general low price stuff are usually felt to be "no good", while pricey stuff are "very good".
@DivKid
@DivKid 5 жыл бұрын
You've got it I think. I can't speak for 2hp, nothing I say here is ever on behalf of a manufacturer. But I'm sure for at least some if they could price it a bit lower but no it will sell well slightly higher because that's where comparable products sit then I'm sure they try to be comparable. The modular community is a great bunch of people and I'm also sure they don't want to devalue other products by going cheaper at times too.
