£2k Gaming PC for £27. Does it work?

With Microsoft announcing ‘Project X Cloud’ and Google announcing ‘Project Stream’, game streaming is such a hot topic right now. Will the next console revolution be in the cloud or will we still favour physical hardware in our homes? We take a special look at 'Shadow PC' a service that streams a Windows 10 PC to whatever device you like and allows you to play your favourite games on max settings with zero latency.

Hi I tried activating USB over IP in their client app, maybe that feature doesn't work on mac? It works on my Windows laptop.. though consider that your home's upload speed will be the speed at which you can access your files on your Shadow PC. So if your home upload speed is slow it won't be so great to use. In Denmark I can have 500mbit/s upload at home (not even Fiver to the home, using a cable Internet provider named yousee (virgin media equivalent) with DOCSIS 3.1 technology) so there I can imagine it being pretty much "just nearly as fast as using a local external hard drive" to connect any external hard drive and use it on my Shadow PC.. it's pretty cool to see my local external hard drive show up as a new drive on my Shadow PC..

Great that you've tested and it's working! It's the only thing that doesn't make it feel like the PC is there in the room with you at the moment.

Yes I think the thing is USB over IP doesn't work yet on the Mac client. But it works on the Windows client just fine I think.. Totally weird and funny that I connect a USB Hard drive and it shows up as a connected USB Hard drive on the cloud PC. But it works, just consider your upload speed is the access speed for the cloud PC to read files off your USB hard drive.. If I want to edit some videos I can copy and paste from my external hard drive to one of the 2 local drives on the Shadow cloud PC (256GB main SSD is the C drive, and 1TB additional storage (at 2.95gbp/month) is the D drive) then that is like uploading the files to the cloud PC for local editing, super smooth for 4K 60p video, before a quick uploading of the edited video directly to KZfaq at 100mbit/s which is the cloud PC's upload speed.

I had the pleasure of trying it at one of my friends homes over the weekend and he was playing Black Ops 4 on a lenovo idealpad lol, I have to admit I was blown away with what he was capable of playing on it. So I have just ordered a new gaming keyboard and I am going to take the plunge and have a month on it then decide if I should chuck my money at a new gaming pc or chuck my money at Shadow. We are in exciting times and I really cannot believe more people haven't heard of this.

@@ZENKETS At the moment in time I am surprised some big name companies are not taking this type of technology in both hands and running with it, I have been able to play games such as Star Citizen and Assassins Creed Odyssey on a PC that has panic attacks when faced with less powerful games. Latency was not a problem at all so Yes I will be subscribing to this for the time being, I really do recommend people try it first. But I am a happy customer so far.
