When I was a kid in the late 50's we lived on a Navy base in CA. Somewhere nearby was an old dirt road or playground of some sort. My dad, who had the sharpest eyes ever, discovered that there were lots of old marbles left in that area. It was always fun to go with him and dig out marbles from the dirt. He made my brother and me little leather bags to hold the marbles we found. Great memories!

Many parts of Canada have had an unusually above average hot, dry summer and now it is raining and threats of severe thunderstorms and tornados where I live. The temperature here is expected to get down to 8 C (about 46 F) and 5 C (about 42 F) tomorrow night and I live close to the Canada/US border so Alex is much further North. Check those marbles with a black light. If they glow, they're worth more. And that Silvertone looks pretty awesome! You just don't see those in that condition anymore. Depending on the model and year, it could pay for the entire haul. The pots/pickups etc. are all workable, but the top and neck looked new. Nice find.

The two Chet Atkins albums went by quickly. Chet Atkins was a guitarist's guitar player and influenced many guitar players in the Merle Travis style of guitar playing (fingerpicking style, kind of a steady thumb on the bass strings, and adding harmony and melody notes at the same time on the one guitar).....The guy on the Max Webster album is Canadian rocker Kim Mitchell who also performed the song Patio Lanterns. According to the back of the album also playing on that album are the three members of the Canadian band Rush: Neil Peart, Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee...That large coffee tin said 'Nabob Irradiated Coffee'. Now if they used 'Irradiated' as an adjective it could mean 'bright', but I wonder when they started irradiating fruits and vegetables to rid them of insects?

Aaahh, memories of laying in the field shooting marbles into dirt holes with the neighborhood kids. Had to be so good for us to be in the dirt, up in trees, or in a creek, getting fresh air, sunshine (and rain) almost all day every day! Never once went to the Dr as a kiddo & no allergies or flu to this day. As a mom, tried to do the same with my kiddos, and now my grand children. Nowadays so many kids (and adults) just stare at a rectangle inside almost all day. Well, going to get off this computer now...

Fantastic song from the album "Universal Juveniles" from 1980 by Max Webster. Although it's credited as Max Webster, it guest stars all three members from Rush! With Kim Mitchell sharing vocals with Geddy Lee. You can tell too because the song has a Rush feel to it, definitely something all Rush fans should listen to.

Loved marbles when I was in elementary school back in the '60's. Cat's eye's, puries, and steelies bring back memories. Living on Lake Michigan there was lots of sand around our school. We used to dig a 'pot' and each player would scatter the same amount of marbles around the pot. Would take turns shooting by holding the middle finger with the thumb and flicking the marble, if your marble shot did not go in the pot it was the other guy's turn. Whoever put the last marble in the pot won them all.

"Max Webster"- Kim Mitchell is the dude in tights. On that album is the song "Battle Scar" with members of Rush. Geddy Lee shares vocals with Kim. It's very 1980. Kim Mitchell's song "Go For Soda" was a popular tune in the states in the mid 80's. also "Patio Lanterns". It appears Kim Mitchell has shorn his locks...and ditched the spandex.

Ya did good on the guitar. The same model with the KAY branding was called the speed demon. Kay made this one and branded it for Sears (Silvertone). They also made guitars for Western Auto under the TrueTone logo. Anyway, the blonde finish seems to be the most desirable- there were a few different colors and a tobacco burst finish- and assembled with a decent set-up are going for $900-$1300 US on Reverb. That one looked to be in particularly nice condition and even with a dead pick-up should be in the middle of that range, especially with the case.Judging from the cool pick-up selector switch it appears to be a 1963-64 model. The top and back are laminated, not the high dollar carved style but that does help them stay stable. These are decent quality guitars and were very “playable”, nicer than entry level. Good score! The amp appears to be a similar vintage but pricing is all over the place and I’m not knowledgeable enough to guess but any of the little 5 to 15watt tube amps of that vintage are bringing good money. Giving the branding and vintage, it might bring a little extra sold together, especially if it came with a story.

The Lego looks like a mix of early 60s and later 70s. The colour of the white changes with age. The really old stuff e en has notches in the side so that you can slide in doors and windows. That's what mine had in the early 60s before they made them dimpled like the rest of the bricks. My first camera was my father's wartime bellows camera. I later saved up my pocket mondy, and bought one of the first model Kodak Instamatic cameras It cost me 7shillings and 6 pence (pre decimal UK currency)

It’s always a good day for a CI episode. Hello from another fellow zebra. I just listened to a couple of your videos! EDS isn’t fun. My son has POTS as well. Hang in there! The healthcare where I live in Saskatchewan isn’t any better when it comes to finding a knowledgeable doctor. My genetics doc is ten hours away from me in Calgary.

@@jordynoleymom Oh my gosh hi!! I'm so excited to meet another zebra! But it's bittersweet that you understand my struggles as well as you do. My geneticist is only about 2 to 2.5 hours away. But our healthcare is based on health insurance, which is often inaccessible and inadequate at best. I'm still fighting for an income (been fighting for it since 2008!) but I'll never give up. Keep fighting the good fight! I'm right there with you in the healthcare trenches!
Is there a hidden tunnel in my yard??? Plus a day of errands!
