Hey, I´m a swedish guy, so excuse me if my English isn´t 100%. I must say that this scene between Sly and his son (from Rocky Balboa), is THE BEST SCENE EVER I´ve seen with Sly. I think I´ve seen that scene at least fifty times, only tonight :) Sly isn´t "acting", if you know what I mean, but He IS really the caring father meaning every word coming out of his mouth!! You can really feel Rocky´s willingness to guide his son in the right direction, by telling him the truth about the mean world we´re living in. I´m a real Rocky fan, so of course I´ve seen the whole film already. I introduced my son to "The Rocky Balboa World" this summer during our vacation together. My son is eleven years old and I had told him pretty much about Rocky already, because Rocky has really meant so much for me when I grew up. (I don´t take this any further here, but my dream is to tell Sly about how much he meant to me, when I grew up in a dysfunctional family in a tough neighborhood in a suburb of Stockholm, Sweden.) Before my son had even seen the first Rocky movie, one day this early summer I stopped the car by store we were going to. I've had a tough day, but I felt cool anyway. I turned to my son and asked him: - "If there´s only ONE rule of living you can carry on to your children, which would it be?" - My son (by the way, his name is Leo) answered (in English to my surprise): "It´s not about how hard you can hit, it´s about how hard you can get hit, still moving forward. It´s about how much you can take, still moving forward." I just looked at my son for a long time, I got stunned. Then I told him how proud I am of him and always will be! No mather what he "becomes" as an adult, he´s always No1 for me and I´ll always try to do my best to be there for him! That´s what I told Leo and he smiled :) I told him I was aware that he knew the sentence (the meaning) of what he just said, because I had told him the words, let´s say "a couple" of times..... :) But in clean English, you´ve been watching it on the tube and learned it, right?? I asked Leo. But he´s, for his age, pretty good in English and Leo told me that it just got stuck in the head when he saw the scene in Rocky Balboa. So, I must be right, Sly performed so well....not well, I mean HIS BEST!!! So good, that the English words got stucked in an 11-year-old boy's head!! :) But Leo is a smart kid and I´m really watching him grow with pride. Leo makes everything in life so much easier and funnier :) Of course, Leo wanted to see all the Rocky movies, and so we did :) I really respect Sly as an actor and for all other things he has accomplished. The story behind Rocky, how Sly´s life looked like, how he refused to sell the script without getting the lead character!! That´s what I call to believe in himself, something people (including myself) always are talking about it.....but if you know what to do, "then DO IT! DO IT!!" (from Rocky IV, I think?) I´m pretty much in a similar life situation as the one Sly had before his breakthrough, at least when it comes to what I´m working with. I´m working for the salary right now, because I have to pay the rent, pay for things that my son needs, e.t.c........ But, I´m dreaming of acting and I´m writing on a script (as a hobby) and I love to write lyrics, but I can not play any instrument (I only try some of the guitar). I have so much inside myself, I´ve been through tough times, there have been things in my life that forced me to learn good human knowledge. All of this make me feel comfortable, when trying to understand or putting myself in the other persons situation. That´s why I know that I wouldn´t be pretending as an actor, I would instead be the character I'm going to figure out. I know this is my thing!! During ten years I´ve been to some Acting classes and On-Camera courses (some video-material from On-Camera e.t.c..., you can find in my channel here on KZfaq) I´ve also had different roles in some commercials and in other smaller productions. I will never, ever, stop dreaming about the moviebusiness, never!! I´m 43 years old, so what??? - If I get my "breakthrough" around, let´s say when I´m 45, if I take care of myself well, I could be working as an actor for 45 years (till I´m 90). This means, that it´s still possible for me to work half of my life as an actor!! :) I do not expect anyone to read everything I've written above, but sometimes it's nice to write off and now it happened to be here. :) Sly, you´re the best!!!
