On this day, June 16, 2024, Tupac Shakur would have been 53 years old. This video was my first introduction to him as a young girl in the extraordinary time that was the 90s! I remember thinking as I sat on the rose pink carpeting of my childhood bedroom, watching this music video on the new, boxy Magnavox TV 📺 that my late sister had bought for me, that Tupac was the BEST LOOKING man I had ever laid eyes upon. I instantly felt the rush of my first ever crush in Life. Now, as a grown woman, I realize my admiration, respect, and Love for Tupac has transcended time. God rest his dynamic Soul. 🖤

Tupac Amaru Shakur was something special. He is so respected because he was the perfect juxtaposition of both worlds. Hard enough for the dudes, sexy enough for the women. Intellectual enough for the woke. Humble enough for less fortunate. Actor, dancer, panther. Those types of dualities don't come around often or damn near ever. That's why so many people fuck with him because he related to everyone. He wasn't always bragging about the ice on his wrist. He was for the people. He was a humanitarian. And because of that he will forever be well respected and remain a global icon. He would've very well been an accomplished historian, actor or politician by now. He was "Malcolm Little" level.

Shock had gotten engaged only a week before they made the track so Pac stepped in to write his verse and carefully omitted any lewd message about him "getting around", hence "Just cos I'm a freak, doesn't mean that we can hit the sheets" Pac wrote his own 2 verses and Shock's one in mere minutes, all the while filming Poetic Justice and smashin' chicks in his movie trailer on a revolving door system haha, hence Janet Jackson wanting him to get checked for AIDS first.
