Haifisch is German for “shark” this song was written about the band as a whole & how they are better together than apart because they almost split up. The video depicts each member thinking one of the others was responsible for till’s death. they do clean up very good ..& Nana King my fellow Richard gal 😛 he looked VERY nice

Thanks Carolyn for the great analysis. Life happens but I can’t even imagine Rammstein without out Till. Actually, Granny Haze is the HUGE Richard fan. She thinks he’s really something although I got to admit he’s very handsome. If I were younger, I’d actually be drawn to Till with his insane but appealing self. Lol. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤

The lyrics are pretty much opposite of the video. The song is saying how the band sticks together, six hearts that burn, but the video is seeing the band break apart as the tensions rise after Till’s “death”, and the members grow suspicious of each other. All of the scenes with Till sprinkled through are callbacks to their other music videos, but altered to make different members be responsible since they’re imagining what each other did to cause his death.

Sharks are also known as Hai in german, pronounced "Hi". So there is that joke: Two fish meet, one says "Hi", the other panics "where, where?"

The song is about how the shark is lonely and how nobody realises that it cries because it swims in salt water. Poor shark. The video shows how the band can't function together when one of them isn't there any longer, in this case Till . They all become suspicious of each other and speculate to themselves as to which one killed him, using other videos to depict how they think each one killed Till. At the start, they're trying to decide between Henry Rollins and James Hetfield as replacement frontmen for the band. There's a nod to Marilyn Manson in the video because they've worked with him in the past . The fight begins in part because of rivalry between the two guitarists, Paul and Richard, Schneider and Ollie then have a go at each other and Flake runs between them all trying to get them to stop, eventually falling into the grave where they find the coffin is empty. Till then posts a postcard to the band saying Greetings from the ends of the earth (or similar) with a picture of himself on the front of the postcard. Cheeky video, showing how they're a complete unit and can't operate without each other. The guys do look even more handsome than usual in their suits as well.

the first time i heard this song i can only think of just one thing and one thing only the Threepenny Opera(German|Deutsch: Die Dreigroschen Oper) its the song about Mack the knive(Mackie Messer aka Die Moritat von Mackie Messer) in which they mention a shark who has teeth(Ein Haifisch der hat Zähne) and its the same way how he sings it which makes it so nice and dark how the original song from Bertold Brecht! for those who are looking for the original its called "Die Moritat von Mackie Messer - Bertolt Brecht"

Yes you´re right! Mack the Knife (the english Version) is very popular in US too. Guys like: Lois Armstrong, Tony Bennet, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Robbie Williams, Nick Cave, Michael Buble ... sang versions very nice Song

Worth mentioning: The composer of Mack the knife, Kurt Weill, like Einstein, had to emigrate from Germany to the US in the 1930s as he became a target for Nazi authorities because of his Jewish background. It is certainly not beyond Rammstein to have hinted at that as well. Bertold Brecht also left Germany for the duration of the Nazi regime. He was known to be left wing and had to evade the authorities too. ... what a brain drain...

Like I explained to another one of our babies, we didn’t feel it was suitable for our channel and like you said being “a fan” I had to check it out. Till still managed to make a somewhat controversial subject amusing in his “amazing” mind. I loved it. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤

The chorus is a reference to the song "Mack the Knife" from "The Threepenny Opera". Oh, the shark, babe, has such teeth, dear And it shows them pearly white Just a jackknife has old MacHeath, babe And he keeps it, ah, out of sight vs And the shark, he has teardrops And they run down his face, but the shark he lives in water so he keeps the teardrops out of sight You get the idea. Works better in the german original lyrics though...

It's a kind of a poem from Berthold Brecht which was part of the stage play "Die Dreigroschen-Oper". Brecht is one of the most famous German poets. In the german version there is no "babe" or "dear" there it is just: "And the shark, it has teeth. And it has them in its face. And Macheath, he has a knife but the knife is out of sight."

Haifisch means shark in German. This song has so many hidden meanings but from what I gather from it it’s about “band of brothers” that go on like a shark. Never stops, keeps on going. I’m sure there are other meanings and other interpretations but this how I think what they mean. If anyone wants to add to this or point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it ♥️ This is one of my fav songs

An Other meaning IS alsow that the shark could be lonly and cry because No one Likes him but No one will See If Hes cryinging because you see no tears under water so what that means IS the Group Look so uge and big and sacraeful from the outside but mainly they are lonly cause noone Talk to them normal because all are scard.

You made a good start. Haifisch is shark and the refrain is a (modified) quote from famous German Bertold Brecht‘s (1898-1956) theater piece „Die Dreigroschenoper“. Quoting Brecht gives room for many thoughts. Like the band he often adressed the stark contradictions between ideals and reality. I would love to see an arena full of Americans shouting these lyrics during a live concert...

The shark has tears and they run down his face. But the shark lives in the water so one cannot see the tears. In the deepness (of the sea) loneliness prevails and one or another tear does flow and this is why the water of the sea does taste salty. - a crying shark is somewhat paradox,rhetorically an oxymoron maybe. The intuition is that a shark is dangerous. From that powerful image one can proceed to further animals, persons, bands, countrys and their weaknesses besides their strenghts, their blind spots, the looser side of the winner and so on. and the song also exaggerates on all that creating some sense of parody.

HAIFISCH is all about the band having to stick together to work. In the Video they are looking to replace Till after his death, looking at James Hetfield from Metallica, and Marilyn Manson, but realising that in the end none of the band members can be replaced. All the 6 members have been together since the beginning, one of very few bands to do so. In the video they start to suspect each other of killing Till and the clips you see of Till being killed by the other members are all alternate versions of previous music videos (Amerika, Keine Lust, Ohne Dich, Sonne and Du Hast.) It's a great music video and a super interesting concept, and yes, definitely a new kind of Rammstein in this from their 2009 album Liebe ist fur alle da

Thank you very much for the Rammstein reviews, so I subscribed (thanks also for the Nightwish). I turn 69 in November so I guess I'm "Grandpa Ted"! Also, congratulations on hitting 460,000 views on "Du Hast" video from 11 months ago!! I checked all your Rammstein reviews (I found 9) and I didn't see any from their most recent 2019 "Stadium Tour". BRIEFLY, my reasoning in suggesting this is twofold: 1) for this tour they constructed one of the largest stages ever constructed for a concert tour, and 2) their tour was so successful that they were shortlisted for the concert trade association's most prestigious award: the "Live Performance of the Year" Award. Their 2019 show is considered one of the most spectacular performances ever created by a rock group. There is a misconception that no good videos of the Tour exist (even some of the Rammstein fans in comments are not that knowledgeable about it). So I put together a small essay on the importance of the Tour and who did the best videos to it. I will set it out below. DO NOT FEEL BAD IF YOU ARE SIMPLY TOO BUSY AND THERE IS NO WAY TO READ ALL THIS STUFF !!!! I just feel better myself knowing that I communicated the information to you. Tuck it away for reference or get a friend to read it. I will set it out in 2 parts: Info on the Tour, and Info on the Videos. (P.S. -- If I could make a suggestion: it would be a great idea to actually show the 2min time-lapse video of the construction of the stage that I included, and then I would go with "Rammstein" as the video, especially as I believe you haven't reviewed that song yet). Thanks so much Grandpa Ted. Very kind of you to take the time to do this. I’ve heard that the Stadium Tour of 2019 was pretty cool but no we haven’t heard anything from it yet. We absolutely love Rammstein. Great musicians and incredible showmen. Then there’s The pyrotechnics......OMG. Again, thank you and Greetings Canada. I naturally assumed that is where you are since you’re Ted in Calgary. Lol. Being born and raised in Michigan, Canada has always been very close to us. Never been as far west as Calgary, but maybe someday. Rock on Grandpa Ted. ✌️🖤🎶🤘

@@nanaking9560 Thanks very much. I know it's an AWFUL LOT of material, but sometimes I get discouraged with some of the comments under Rammstein videos. Maybe to say something positive ("if you can't say something nice then ... etc."), my experience is that the NIGHTWISH fans who comment are almost ALWAYS knowledgeable and make great suggestions. It's just that Rammstein doesn't have any "Gabriel Bardac's" around! So here's to both Nightwish and Rammstein! And if you haven't seen any of those 2019 videos yet you are in for a hell of a shock!

Lucky you! I'm wondering if they will make any changes to the 2019 stage setup? An interview I read said they had hired 5 Boeing 747's for the gear to come over then had to cancel after COVID. Remember to check out their 2019 shows at "Rammstein Live by TheKeyboardfucker"! Keep well ...

What more can I say? Haifisch means shark and yeah this song is about Rammstein's relationship to each other. They know they only can do it if all 6 are holding together. It's a song about their strong friendship inspired by the famous german poet Bertold Brecht.

Also ladies, it would be great if you did the official video for “Ohne Dich” next. It is referenced in this video with the rope cutting, but it’s a beautiful ballad that really shows of Tills voice and another side to Rammstein you need to explore 🤟🏻❤️‍🔥 it chokes me up every time!

Haifisch means shark in German. The video depicts Till dying in other music videos. I don't think the lyrics of the song have anything to do with the video, but I could be wrong.

I think they said in the Making of that they wanted to do the complete opposite of the lyrics. The song is about how they keep together as a band and in the video they hate each other.

The lyrics are about Till himself. Like a shark, he big, tall and intimidating.The shark cries, but because he's in the ocean, no one can see the tears. The song is about their lowest point as a band. They wanted to split because of everyone wanting to carry the band in different direction, but in the end as you said, they realised they were stronger together

The refrain is an allusion to Die Moritat von Mackie Messer (The Ballad of Mack the Knife) from Die Dreigroschenoper (The Threepenny Opera). Moritat von Mackie Messer: Und der Haifisch, der hat Zähne und die trägt er im Gesicht und Macheath, der hat ein Messer doch das Messer sieht man nicht. And the shark, it has teeth, And it wears them in the face. And Macheath, he has a knife, But the knife can't be seen Rammstein: Haifisch: Und der Haifisch der hat Tränen Und die laufen vom Gesicht Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser So die Tränen sieht man nicht And the shark it has tears And they run from his face But the shark lives in the water So the tears can't be seen The rest of the text plays with the word "halten" (hold) and its variations. The lyrics themselves are difficult to interpret, as is often the case with Rammstein. In combination with the video I would say the lyrics are a reckoning with the cliché that a band consists of friends. At first the cohesion of the band members is emphasized, but already at the funeral of Till Lindemann (the singer) they discuss about a new singer. Every band member is a shark, so to speak, and in the second part of the song the loneliness (of the band members?) is thematized. At the end of the video you can see Till Lindemann doing well without the band.

High fish indeed. It translates to shark. 1st time for me. As usual with Rammstein, I loved it. Really is something different from them. Just never know what they're going to come up with next. We have done Du Hast, our very first by Rammstein and we have done Sonne also. They’re still on the channel right now along with a couple by Till’s other band, Lindemann. Speaking of channels, did you know that Rammstein has an official program called Rammstein by Others on their official station and our reaction to Du Hast was actually chosen by them for their playlist. I mean, you've made your reactions to Sonne and Du Hast live performances and you have also reacted to some music videos like Deutschland or Haifisch. and I think you should watch (just watch, you don't need to react if you don't want to) Sonne, Du Hast, Keine lust, Ohne Dich and Amerika music videos. You will see that some frames from those music videos were used in Haifisch music video

@@nanaking9560 Oh, you must, please. But a version from one of the actual live shows in Paris, or in France at least. It is really beautiful. And the lyrics, as ever, are so multilayered. Also, not sure if you already reacted to "Meinland" which is a different feel again? I don't know if you have reacted already to "Wiener Blut" (the live from madison square garden is the best i've found so far) but I would urge you to either look into the story behind the song, OR perhaps it could be a neat idea to have one of your behind the cameras people have a print out or something with the lyrics translated and the background info, and after you watch and react to that, they hand you the information and you react on that too and how it ties with the song? Could be a cool idea maybe?

many years ago there was speculation that En Esch would replace Till. This video is a reference to it. As we all know, this was pure speculation. Till is still part of the band.

He displays also the Freemasonary and for accepting, you must do a blood sacrifice which you can pic up in the video clip, in the beginning you can notice the freemason signs at the back on the wall and the whomen was part of the sacrifice feast, and the fact that Hitler was sworn into freemasonary, which goes by different names like Scull & Bone, Illuminati (of which in this clip, the hollacast was to illuminate the people) and population control, but in this clip the singer is not proudly singing about it neseceraly and many Germans did not approve of it but was to scared to go against it, it's like in many countries you live today but you are hated for what happened in the past, it's like being picked on for what happened in the past but you were not even born yet and can only pray and hope for a better future in union, very good art in this Video, like his deep voice

I did hear that one because we didn’t think it was well suited for our channel so we decided against doing it. I love Rammstein/Lindemann so I checked it out. Somewhat of a controversial subject, but Till still managed to make it quite amusing, at least to me. Keep on rocking babies. ✌🏻🎶🤘🏻🖤

I'm sure Haifisch means Shark in German Edit:Love this song and the channel been watching for 6 months Edit 2: Ladies can you please watch "Ich Hasse Kinder" It's Till solo and its an epic song with a memorable video, I hope you enjoy it if you do. Edit 3: all the clips in the video are from other Rammstein videos and shows the band killing Till off in various ways, hence the funeral and the fight.

Awesome, may I recommend Lindemann Home Sweet Home live in Moscow. It's a beautiful and sad song about cancer . Till lost his father to cancer so this song is very emotional . Would be amazing if you could react to it

I wonder why anyone would recommend the Haifisch Music Video to you before you watched the music videos for Du Hast, Keine Lust, Ohne Dich, Amerika etc. etc. Considering this music video is all full of references to old videos, that you now couldn't understand, without having seen them before.
