You can see a few glimpses of one of the cameramen wearing something on their back. I couldn't make out what it was, it might have been a drum machine and speakers or it might simply have been a backpack. I also noticed that there was a remarkable uniformity of volume as they are moving about, pointing their saxes in different directions, having people stand in front of them and all sorts of changing conditions. It's possible they have wireless mics tucked out of sight in their instruments in which case someone will need to be carrying the receivers and recording equipment. I could see that along with a drink machine all being built into a backpack

I'm actually especially happy about that - LA native, can confirm that crazy shirtless guys yelling at you is part of the classic Venice Beach experience. I'm sure Leo P could have handled it, he's played NYC subways for years, but this was likely their pre-defined plan for just such an event. Very slick.

Back in 1999 I was staying in a hostel in downtown Sydney on George Street when I awoke to the sound of two saxophonists busting out the coolest rendition of the superman theme tune I've ever heard, all while commuters just strolled past. I sat in my window watching them from 5 stories up for a good half hour until a massive rain storm blew in and they packed it up. Honestly one of my favourite memories from an entire year in Australia. Just stumbled on 2Saxy and it reminded me of that story. Would be ace to hear these guys do a version of it.
@AkkiLad
@AkkiLad Жыл бұрын
George Street does get a lot of really good musicians playing there so to regular commuters it's probably an everyday experience, and on weekdays when people are trying to just get from Point A to Point B no-one really pays attention to anything which is a real shame. A similarly, real memorable experience I've had was walking down George Street some weekend and watching a bunch of random musicians and even dancers collaborating and improvising. It had to be one of the best performances I've ever experienced.

Do people comprehend this level of talent and skill? I played and still have my alto. Was lead in jazz band for at least 5-6 years. Their skill level is remarkable. Edit: I could make mine scream false notes like she did at the 20 minute point too. Also… the low notes on a sax take a lot of air. These two are remarkably talented. This is a complete workout. Edit 2: also nothing pairs better than a bari and alto sax. They simply work perfectly together.

Pick-up recorder... excited bicycler... drunk shirtless man... operatic passer by... These background characters make these recordings that much more memorable! But most of all, the music is killer.

The best so far! I haven't commented before on your channels but I've followed you two individually and together for years, and this video is in my opinion one of your best performances so far, both from a musical and personally interactive point of view, and I'm happy to say that you seem to be evolving together. I "dabble" on the tenor sax myself, for my own very private enjoyment, and you two guys are such a positive inspiration, and I really hope that you two will continue to make these collaborations because you really inspire me and I'm sure lots of others. Keep it up, and I wish our the best of luck moving forward!

5:54 to 14:00 they go from a honeymoon phase, to being nippy, to arguing, to yelling, finally to making up. I show this 8 minute span to everyone I can, it's just incredible.

The weird dancer guy, the lady with the soprano voice, your leg moves, those AMAZING transitions going back and forth between you... And those notes. And that groove. A real masterpiece. Congrats from France!
