I am 57 years old and a financial disaster I am committed to learning how to budget I never have, my parents never did. My husband wants to retire in two years I want to create a new relationship with money. Hopefully teach my granddaughter about budgeting. She's 13 so she thinks I have a never ending bank account. This will be great. I'm excited and very motivated

Wow you're daughter is lucky bc when I was 13, I was fully aware of how poor my parents were and they did not educate me on finances. She will definitely be so happy when she's 18 and she realizes you taught her something not every child learns from their parents.

I love paperless. I get text notifications, not emails. I log into my account ( it takes less than 1 minute) pull up my bill and screenshot each page. If it is as usual I will delete the screenshot right after I put it in my budget calendar. If I feel I need to, I will save it to compare to the next months. Thank you for the video!

Love this help but 10/10 recommend getting reusable bags, I have some cute (some plain) reusable bags that I use every time I go to the store and that saves so much plastic, man. I also watch what I buy and it's packaging bc if I can get 1 small bag of popcorn kernels to pop myself, I choose that over the 5 pack plastic wrapped microwaveable bags. So simple but feels so much better, just bc the plastic issue can't be solved overnight doesn't justify going directly with that toxic, lazy flow. Thank you for your help ❤

So well done..and....totally agree with you about not going paperless for bills. I have to see them and touch them. I totally AGREE it is to save them money....especially if you have a question it is so hard to try and talk to a person to get something resolved.

Honestly. Paperless works for me. I lose paper. Sometimes it does not even get brought in. It certainly was NOT being opened and looked at. Being able to find it in my email and then adjust my bill-pay to pay it works alongside a calendar of when bills are due. And when I go to pay it, I would see it was way more expensive than budgetted and I'd go and look at the details at that point. The bills I have problems with to this day are things like Toll bills and medical that are NOT part of my process but I get a paper bill I need to keep track of. Even at tax time I appreciate how many places I can go and print out the tax forms instead of catching them in the mail.

My paperless bills on one is to reduce the bill, and the others I have text and email. That works for me because I use my texts and an email folder to fill in my planner with the info sent there and photos for papers I don't want to miss. It means I don't lose the cards/statements and can update my planner without needing that physical folder.

Loved this. Thank you. Do you have a video explaining the month ahead in depth and how it works from start to finish? I get the concept of getting 1 month of bills saved, but not sure how it gets used and you stay ahead...or is it just like an emergency savings type thing...I'm sure it's simple to understand, but for some reason just can't quite figure it out. Sorry if it's already been explained and I missed it! Thanks again for these videos, they are so helpful.

I was in this same situation for years. It is really hard to be in that position. I had to know in my heart that I could do it. I could do it myself. I had to push myself most days- but it was worth it. I fixed my awful credit, I purchased a more dependable car, I finally was able to buy my own home. The feeling of accomplishment that came with that is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I showed myself what I am capable of. I just randomly came across your channel and I am grateful! I need to REEL IT IN! I have cash stuffed before kinda sorta, but need to get serious. Saw one of your cash stuffing videos and then found this one. I know how to budget, I just overthink it all, and this made it Ssooooo easy and I thank you! Grabbed an old binder, some of your free printable and rode out the storm here last night putting everything together. I DID break a no spend day and bought a binder for cash stuffing. When I did the budget, I found out I can easily meet an urgent goal by mid February literally just by sticking to that budget. I had been stressing about it. Subscribed now for sure, and the challenges look fun so I'm going to make sure to get there soon!

Awesome video very well put great way to make everything come together instead of having chaos every month trying to figure out where the money came in or where the money went to I agree about agree with you in regards to the bank I use one that gives you three accounts as well one is credit builder that will increase your credit score automatically by paying your bills with it 2 the checking account and the next one is savings account and they also cover you in the middle of the month if you run out of money they cover you and they don't charge you extra fees at the the next pay cycle week or the month when you get your income again

We just use a tablet writing paper, we put our paycheck amount on the 1st of month (payday) and the 15th... then subtract bills and then adjust from there. We've listed our bill by priority and due date in column of which payday it comes out of, then put any extra towards debt (the most possible), emergency savings (oil change, brakes and rotors, car repairs) a job loss, and a portion to savings. We also write on bottom the gotchas that we didn't figure in, car registration, bdays ect... then figure out. We've gotten creative for thoughtful gifts, it's not the gift but the manner that it is given. An within a small budget saved a little at a time. We can't spend more than we make... so... yes, either make more or spend less... We see where we're at in this moment in time, make a plan for where we're at and where we're going and reassess as needed. Once setup, it's an eye opener but easy and works for us...

I go between paying some bills in cash, but others directly from a card. HOWEVER I just started getting a budget binder, and using a calander to mark off when all bills are due, and which Friday's check pays for which bills.

that’s a great question! I use the “spending last month’s pay” idea to manage it personally - so I got to a place where I had saved approximately one month’s pay, and then in every following month, I was essentially using the previous month’s income to pay my bills, which meant I already had the money to pay regardless of when my bills fell in relation to my paydays.

Thanks for your content , so very informative. I’ve only recently began watching . When you say 10% for car (payment ) .. if I don’t have that expense would the 10% be registrations , car maintenance , etc ?

I would think that is up to you but it isn’t a bad idea. Car repairs, insurance and even gas are so expensive now. If you do the math, those things might come close to that 10%! I am not a financial advisor so I don’t want to say that’s what you absolutely should do- run your numbers and see what you think. Thank you for watching and I’m glad to have you here! 💛

After my dad passed in 2019 I switched back to paper billing on everything. It was a nightmare trying to find out what bills I had to pay on his estate because he had gone paperless and I didn’t have access to his computer or emails. So until companies were trying to go into collections I did now about the bill. I still pay the bills online through my bank, but I want the paper bill so I know what is due and when.

Setup a utility sinking fund and average what the last three pass bills were and take the average and divide by three and and save in an account or envelope so you have it to pay in three months. Works like a charm!

We pay $500 towards utilities every month. In January We paid $325 to the bill and put $175 into savings to use in the summer. Our bills last year got over $600 in the summer months and it helps offset by just paying the same amount every month.

I love this! I do have a question. I understand budgeting, however, I can't wrap my brain around my situation with budgeting. I get paid monthly and it is a fixed income (Salary). My husband gets paid every two weeks and is variable (hourly with shut downs if there isn't enough work). How would you suggest planning for that? I really want to get a handle on budgeting in 2024. We have been married 20 years and I feel like we have never had a year when we weren't "just making it" (sorry for such a long question)

Oh my gosh! I can't believe your daughter pays $250 every 5 weeks. I feel so bad for her and anyone who has to pay those astronomical prices to get their hair done. There's no way I would pay that. I pay $45 every 5 weeks and that includes getting my hair colored and cut. And I have very thick, very long (down to the middle of my back) hair. I'm SOOOOOO glad I live in the middle of nowhere in Wisconsin. Lol.

So if I start this on Friday, do I go ahead and pay the bills due this week and only cash stuff for the rest of my monthly bills?
@2SisterBees
@2SisterBees 6 ай бұрын
If you are going to cash stuff your bills - make sure you are extremely organized with it. Have a calendar with all of the due dates written down so you can be sure to have the cash in your account and paid on time. I don’t stuff my monthly bills- I only cash stuff my variable expenses and things I am saving longer term for. If you are not living paycheck to paycheck or anything like that- you should be fine but still be super organized. Honestly- I suggest to new cash stuffers to start with just a few envelopes where they would like to see themselves sticking to a budget. Things like groceries, online shopping, or eating out. It really depends on what types of bills you have. Just don’t get overwhelmed- once you get the hang of it, it gets easier. I started with one binder and had probably 8 envelopes. You can ask anything else you can think of - and I’ll try to help. 💛

I get the sentiment, but not sure we should be promoting paper copies if we’re also looking to reduce environmental impact. Are there other methods that keep the focus, but keep things digital?
@2SisterBees
@2SisterBees 6 ай бұрын
My POV is that there are a million other ways we can reduce waste. If someone is struggling to keep up with bills and paying on time and/or need a more visual way to get back on track- staying with paper billing is a good option. I think it’s a good temporary solution to reset your mind- then once things are streamlined again, go back to paperless. It’s just one suggestion of many that could potentially help some of my viewers. Not all of them work for everyone- I do my best! 💛

Let’s say you save $200 in an envelope in a month. I see it different…adding that $200 $400 $100 that I save in a month to MY SAVINGS ACCOUNT benefits me more each month BECAUSE Of the interest I receive each MONTH from the monthly DEPOSIT… INSTEAD of WAITING till the EnD of the YEAR! This is for people who save in the envelope system. I love the explanation of how to budget!! ❤
@2SisterBees
@2SisterBees 6 ай бұрын
Well, yes. If someone wants to place savings in a high yield savings account, they will reap the benefits of that monthly interest. For me, when I first decided I wanted to pay off debt and save, putting money in a savings account didn’t work for me in the beginning. Mentally, I was still seeing money as “just numbers” on a screen. So, when my checking account would get low because I wasn’t budgeting very well, I would just do a couple little clicks and move money from savings back to my checking. The cash method ( because it’s so visual) reignited what the value of a dollar is. After some time, your spending habits get better, your budgeting gets dialed in- and once that control comes back- putting $ in a savings account is very beneficial. It’s the “getting there” that is the real work. Also, a lot of cash stuffers swap out the cash they have saved in the envelopes for “prop money” and deposit it once they reach a certain amount. There’s so many ways to do finances- just gotta find what speaks to you. 💛💛💛

I use to do cash envelope ✉️ system Like $100 groceries $30 gas $20 cvs for hygiene Using also coupons and ECB’s alone with the $20, fun money $20 clothes $30 Eat outs . For hubby and me. I would then save up the money left in each envelope at the end of the week. If I needed more in one I would take it from another, made me not want to spend at all! Thats how I started saving so much. That year I saved over $5000 I have no debt besides home, which is low Built a home in 2017. We had already paid our land in cash, we had no debt. Put $52,000 on my home also The last 4 years we saved an average of $20,000 A year. Everything that comes in goes in savings Unexpected checks, anything, income tax return and etc. we over pain a dr.
