Today, we take an in-depth look at what it's actually like to buy and own an incredibly cheap Tesla Model S. My friend Rex bought a 2016 Model S 90D with low miles, and it seems like a great deal, but we visit the electrified garage for a checkup and we find some interesting discoveries.

17k for a facelifted Model S with AP 2.0 hardware is amazing deal! I has 2015 with AP1 hardware for 40K in 2018 with Certified Pre-owned warranty from Tesla, but I didn't have newest AP hardware or newer processor. It was fun to drive and had free supercharging, but only 220 miles of range if I was lucky. Took it all around the state and country for free and sold it two years later to dealership for the same price as I bought it for because they didn't check Autocheck where it showed minor accident before I bought it! 🤷🏽‍♂️ Sold it because it was fun for a while but then it actually got boring to drive. Plus I didn't feel like paying Tesla tax for parts and when a door handle is $1000 to replace, you know there was about to be some pricey repairs once it was out of warranty

@Michael_Galgano
@Michael_Galgano 54 минут бұрын
@@richardlyew Tesla charges around $20,000USD for a battery replacement here in the states. I do remember hearing Hyundai charging $60,000CAD for a battery replacement. But regarding the Tesla battery, the entire battery is a bunch of Tesla 18650s wired together in packs to combine as a single powersource. Louis Rossmann a whole back calculated out how much the battery cost was based off of how much a single Tesla 18650 was and it came out roughly to $20,000 just in 18650s. Now there are independent shops that are offering lower cost solutions for repair like replacing the bad cells. Electrified Garage does this and I want to say it was around $5,000-$7,000USD. As for the free charging, I think the only sustainable way of doing that would be to somehow calculate the price of charging over the life of the vehicle and incorporate that into the price of the vehicle. I could see though that if you plug into a tesla supercharging station you wouldn't have to pay hut if using a 3rd party one you do.

@xiaoka
@xiaoka 16 күн бұрын
