I end up finding out why the $400 1994 Honda cr80 wasn't running right. I then fix the issue and attempt to take the dirt bike for its first ride. Will this fix work? #Honda, #Fix, #Cr,

Yeah crank seal or somehow a broken case was the only option. Next time try taking the bearing out of the clutch pressure plate. As long as your clutch plates are good with the springs still in place and putting tension on the plates they should hold the basket along with the pennies trick good enough to remove the basket bolt, also the bearing support area helps keep your socket aligned. Another tip because I understand not wanting to tear the bike all the way down is to put the bike on its side and pour some premixed through the main bearing stand the bike back up and rotate the crank to mix up the old oil in the case then tip the bike to the other side dumping it out a few times. Sure it will burn out eventually but may cause your plug to foul early leading you to think theres another problem. As well as that is just to much oil for the rings and cylinder and gear oil that has all sorts of metal and fiber contaminants wearing you top end, crank and main bearing faster.

Sounds a bit lean but it can be the dings on the expansion pipe for some reason on the smaller 2 stroke bikes these small dings definitely restrict it all low idle till the power valve kicks in an just hits power as it should. But none the less another good fix Joe. I’m working on the quad zilla and a blaster at the moment but the dam blaster is being a real pain with the tors and break over ride which I hope after removing will finally fire up

just a heads up i almost always put a thin thin coat of RTV sealant as requested in most manuals for most engines around the outside of almost every seal, not to seal anything but to hold the seal in and considering you found one popped out i would have put sealant on it to ensure it won't come out again and also always put a coat of engine oil/2 stroke oil on the inner lip of the seals so it doesn't wear out pre maturly

For your frozen clutch bolt....next time try mixing transmission fluid and acetone (50/50) into a hand spray bottle. I learned this from an old mechanic. I had tried PB Blaster, penetrating oil, heat, and my car tire air impact wrench and still could not get my frozen bolt to loosen. Spray this mixture onto the bolt and allow to soak overnight. If you cannot remove the bolt the next day, spray it again and allow to soak overnight again. It took me several days of application but the bolt finally came loose. The old mechanic said this is how they did it back in the 1940's. Apparently, as the acetone evaporates it "draws" the transmission fluid into the bolt threads and loosens it. Hope this helps. Thanks for the great videos.
@tonymarshall9670
@tonymarshall9670 5 күн бұрын
Was a comparison test done on them. Trans fluid n acetone came in at number 1 spot even to the highest brand. On rusted bolts an old timer showed me. Brake fluid and water mixed together. Think he said ten to one water fluid. Apparently the water thins it enough to draw it in and the brake fluid eats at the rust. We left it over night and a 30 mil nut inch and a quarter. He cracked it and then wound it off with his fingers. He only put three drops on the thread from an oiling can.

Made that exactly same mistake myself and the seal wore out quite quickly because bearing was rubbing into it. Had to change the bearing also because some rubber had entered into the bearing making it roll badly. Learned my lesson for sure :D Another thing in that video is that im quite sure 8.8 bolt is too soft for engine use, atleast in the powertrain. 10.9 or 12.9 is more likely be used because they dont stretch so easily.

Did them on my KX80 and oh my god it took 3 pairs of them until I got it because one pair was too big and wouldn’t seal and the other pairs kept rolling over themselves when I tried pressing the crank in.

That seal should be flush with the engine case and not pushed till it bottoms out because it will be blocking the passage for the fuel mixture to go though there will be 2 either side leading to the outside of the crank bearings so you will probably find that bearing will eventually give out

Next time your working on a clutch like that just put the bolts with the springs on back in without the plate with the bearing and put it in first and then put the hammer in the tire. That’s how you save the bolt and save your clutch from getting shavings in it. Just a little tip.

Not sure oof this will help any one but when your using any king of impact gun you MUST use impact sockets to get full force. They are much harder and transfer more force. Regular sockets will work in most cases but you do lose some of your force with the softer steel. same goes for any extensions you may need. they make impact sockets for a reason.
@adventuresiwork3563
@adventuresiwork3563 2 жыл бұрын
It’s actually the exact opposite. Impact sockets are softer metal. It’s why chrome sockets crack so easily. The metal is a lot harder on chrome sockets.

You need the proper tools for the job. You can buy or make a clutch holder. Do not use pennies to bind the gears it puts a lot of pressure on your bearings. Also degrease the seal mating surface (you did this) and apply loctite to help prevent this in future. Also apply seal grease to inner seal.

In your later videos you say the crank shaft seals go the other way around

How ironic! I just had to replace all the seals in my blaster because I had a bad oil leak but it never smoked for some reason. It was the left side crank seal that was bad
@carguy1013
@carguy1013 3 жыл бұрын
Left side would mean stator side so no oil their that's why it wouldn't smoke? . Right side would be smoke and clutch oil burning. Left side just air leak and high revs.

Those center clutch nut don't have a big torque spec, at least on the Yamahas I've worked on. BUT I could be wrong on this model. I just mean to say you shouldn't have had to fight it off the last guy overtightened

Thats definitely Rich! Shes smoking blue, clogging up and spitting low Rpms. Gotta keep clearing her throat to go. 80+ degree summer ill run 122 Main & 48 Pilot with 40:1 Mix with AMS Oil 93 Octo with a BR8 or 9EG NGK plug. She'll be crispy!

I get spooge from my cr80rb big wheel , I run 125 main with a 50 pilot 40:1 ratio and the weather is 90+ degrees , can you suggest the correct jetting so I dont get a rich condition
@rocknrye9273
@rocknrye9273 3 жыл бұрын
@@lemonaidinmyskin that's stock jetting. Way to rich for 90 degrees. Get a jet kit. I would try the 122 main and 48. You gotta always be on the pipe riding the CR80 or else the engine will oil up on you. I wouldnt go lower than 120 main.

@@lemonaidinmyskin I see. Yeah, CR80 is definitely a bike for advanced riders. They do not run well when you keep them below powerband. The engine builds up with oil to easy and gets clogged. You always have to clear it out, especially when you're running rich. Its a bike designed to beat the shit out of lol. It wants to be in the powerband non stop to ride good. But yeah, gice the 122 and 48 a try and if youre still leaking out the silencer, then try a 120. Make sure your Air Screw is 1 3/4 turned out from all the way in. Screw it all the way in and turn it out 1 3/4s and set your idle screw when warmed up. You should be good to go.
