Info: Each step makes you faster and you don't have to learn it all (except 1 & 2: you have to learn those). The advanced stuff may seem unnecessary because "it's just Ortega, why not learn CLL?" HOWEVER, if you're already amazing at 3x3, you can very quickly apply most of these techniques to 2x2, and it will be easier than learning CLL. Or, if you just hate learning 2x2 algorithms and you know you won't practice them much, then this tutorial can be very useful as you can apply this to 3x3 as well. And lastly, if you learn all of this, EVERYTHING here is useful for advanced 2x2 methods or 3x3 PLL prediction, so it doesn't hurt to learn it. Check the description for more!

Judging by the thumbnail, pro cubers are the ones that right after picking the cube up, tilt it slightly during inspection instead of looking at it straight on before moving on to inspect other pieces.

It's been years since I practiced speedcubing. I was pretty active around 2014-2015, but I stopped because I got busy with work, just cubing enough since then so I didn't forget the algorithms I learned. Been getting back into it, learned the couple Ortega algs I didn't know, and I'm about a 7 second average. It's really fun and it opens up a lot more options for solving 2x2 if you know cfop as well

I’m trying to learn the Ortega method myself and, I was wondering, how did you make the leap from reading the Algs to recalling from memory?
@cloudzerra
@cloudzerra Жыл бұрын
@@TuxicToiger hey it’s been a while, i averaged 6 second now, but you really just have to keep reading the algorithms for a little bit, but once you feel comfortable with it, don’t immediately jump into solving with it, try to do the algorithm without reading and if you can’t then go as far as you can until you don’t remember and rehearse the part you don’t remember, once you get that down you just have to keep practicing it

Thought 2 by 2 was easy and would be fun compared to 3 by 3 which is getting really hard now that I'm sub-20. (I also don't wanna grind out the OLL's yet for it.) So I decided to take a "break" and finally learn some 2 by 2. Not as easy to get good at as I thought, but I'm going to try to master ortega for 3 by 3 sake. I would like to eventually get CoLL so I can occasionally force a better PLL too. Your the only cuber I watch for tutorials because you're the only one that makes sense and has good video quality and upload schedule.

And as an advanced Ortega solver I just can tell: This video is amazing! (And as I see now nearly 2 years old already. But anyway^^)

While true, there is at least one case ("H") where the 3x3 alg is 11 moves, but there is a 5 move alternative that only works for 2x2 because it would mess up middle layer edges. I think it is worth learning that one at least.

Hey jperm! I figured out that you can use a jperm instead of a tperm to switch two cornerson a 2x2, with the same result. you probably already knew this but i just wanted to point that out. have a great day!

I jut finished watching this video and went to do a couple solves on my 2x2 and then I got this scramble: R’ U F2 R’ F2 U2 F2 R’ U’. I predicted my OLL which would be solved and decided to spend the rest of my inspection predicting my bars in which I found that they too would be solved. During inspection, I did z’ y2 and had the red side on the bottom to start. I did L U2 L and took a bit to recognize my AUF which looking back I should’ve done during inspection as well. Either way this got me a new PB of 1.776

For the second algorithm: Just hold the 1x1x2-bar up front and do R U´ L U2 R´ U L´
