That scene has led me to believe that maybe the marriage between Ellis and Tatcher could've worked and Meredith could've had a better childhood if Tatcher had stood up to Ellis, like George did. It's kinda sad.

keep in mind that dr webber said ellis was very strong willed-i think it would have taken a ton of strength to stand up to her. this is ellis with alzeimers, not at her full strength.

Dr. Webber also knew Ellis better than Thatcher did. I think even if he stood up to Ellis, her falling in love with Dr. Webber was the end of anything she felt for Thatcher. It wasn't Thatcher she was looking for, in the end, it was Richard.

I do this with my Alzheimer's or dementia patients , going into their world is sometimes more calming than trying to pull them into reality coz most of the time our reality doesn't even exist to them anymore depending on the disease stage. It's heart breaking.

Anne Ritah Kirya Exactly! I used to work at a nursing home and there was a woman with Alzheimer's who always said there was a lion in her room. She was very scared. And instead of telling her that there is no lion, I told her that it's a very nice lion that won't hurt her. That really calmed her down.

Exactly, my mom used to be my grandmother’s caregiver when she had alzheimer’s a couple years ago (passed in 2018) I remember my grandma started thinking it was raining inside. So I got a towel, and started drying her, another time she thought there was a man bleeding on her floor. I said i called an ambulance and we waited. Its hard seeing someone get the life sucked out of them but the best thing you can do is make them comfortable and wait for them to be put a peace.

I can’t imagine what kind of misery Ellis and Thatcher lived through during their marriage… the scene between Ellis and George shows that maybe the marriage could’ve worked. It’s very sorrowful.

The way that Alex handled her at the start is actually very good procedure for Alzheimer's, play along to an extent and give them reasons to follow along with what you need them to do. Sometimes you just have to play pretend.

Why? Even if she isn’t practicing she still IS a doctor of medicine? And try to explain an alzheimer’s patient she isn’t a practicing doctor anymore, try to explain an Alzheimers patient they’re not who they currently, think they are. Definitely not the way you should handle them :)
@micah_eagle
@micah_eagle Жыл бұрын
When people get their doctorates degree, it becomes their Mr. Or Mrs./Ms., it’s what they use on legal documents and how they’re addressed. Ellis was also diagnosed with Alzheimer’s so her mind was going and she thought that she was still a practicing doctor, George was her husband Thatch, and Meredith was a little girl. Calling her Ms. Gray would also be disrespectful to her since she was a renowned surgeon and had pioneered a surgical technique. The hospital was named after her she’s a big deal.
