Had to remove throlle body from the intake (4 extra bolts no big deal) to really see those white and red connectors you got that other camera to position for the "look behind". Im surprised the dbl platinum ones I removed weren't stock but neither were the rithenium ones I put in either. I came to own this one at 186k but I got it because it had AWD (part time) and I run deliveries to city and rural areas. Thanks for all the let know!!

Just wondering..I am planning on doing the spark plugs and coils here soon on my equinox. In your opinion is it a waste to replace all the coils if they technically aren’t bad..I’ve had a few techs where I work tell me just do the plugs and not worry about the coils, but I feel like it would be better to just do the plugs and coils while the intake is off and everything is accessible
@BustedtoBuilt
@BustedtoBuilt Жыл бұрын
I'd do whatever you are comfortable with. I've never seen an o.e. ignition coil go bad on a v6 gm direct injected application. Not to say that one couldn't go bad. Those are my thoughts on it but I understand the ease of just doing them while its apart

You can use painters tape and label the connections you take apart. Write 1 on both sides of a connection then 2 and 3 and so on if you are not firmilar with what you are working on

@BustedtoBuilt

I believe either the fresh air inlet or pcv hose, one allows the engine to pull in positive crankcase pressure and the other would pull fresh air into the crankcase from the air cleaner

Thank you, I don't replace gm coils as a maintainence item just because I've never seen a bad one on a direct injected application. A person definitely could if they were concerned but I think money better spent elsewhere or at least for my customers

I have a 2011 GMC Terrain SLT 3.0. When at operating temperature and idling in Park, if I slowly accelerate to 1500 - 2000 RPM, the engine shakes, then smooths out above 2000 RPM. It's also smooth idle until reaching 1500 RPM. Would this be a symptom of a bad coil or spark plug? Other than the engine shake during the 1500-2000 rpm in park, it runs great. Any thoughts?

The GM engineers with this engine design never intended these engines to last for this type of regular general maintenance. This is the reason why it's so labor-intensive to change spark plugs. And, if you have to go through this much trouble to change the plugs I would recommend changing coils at the same time.

So which GM engineer told you that? Talking out of your ass😂. This engine (LF1/LFW 3.0 V6) is in a lot different GM cars and trucks worldwide with transverse and longitudinal configurations. It's just harder on the equinox because it's transverse due to packaging since there are AWD configurations. This is actually a wards top 10 engine winner and is a great engine IMHO.

What are your thoughts on using anti-seize on the spark plug threads?
@BustedtoBuilt
@BustedtoBuilt 3 жыл бұрын
I have never used anything on a spark plug thread myself, perhaps in other climates people run into issues where application is helpful? Odds of one of these engines living past 220k to see another spark plug service in my opinion would also slim

I've seen these engines go well over 350 000 km. Anti seize is pretty much mandatory on aluminum heads in Saskatchewan (also won't hurt to use it on cast heads). If you change plugs regularly they "probably" won't break, but why chance it.
