At 8:35 mark it looks like you had a strap come off a trailer coming out of the depo. I remember as a teenager watching a driver backup a triple like this around a corner and then around into the block of land we were building a house on and the last trailer had all the roof frames on it. Everyone was in awe of the drivers skills and he made it look easy while many of the old boys waiting to unload it where talking trash towards the driver after he told them he could do it. They all ate their words lol.

I had left my work gloves sitting on a dolly and it was the gloves that you would have seen falling off onto he ground. Reversing a road train, two or three trailers requires a lot of skill. Something you need to be doing all the time or you tend to become very rusty at it.

I watched one of your caravan videos once where you had that little cartoon of a car with a caravan behind riggling behind on this miniature road map, just like the double decker buses cartoons of London, and your houseboat adventure on the river Murray. Mick I am 77 years old, I have been in Adelaide since Jan 1969, have driven a semi for Karri timbers a little bit, a truck for Cocks Foyes, and a 6 ton Thames for Black and white taxi trucks at mile end, yet I finished clothing designing college in Sydney, where did the time go, and So soon to, things are changing So fast, yet Truck diving still stays the same, and without you guys everything seems to dwindle down to nothing again, thank you again for your videos Mick, and keep up your good work. i went to Australia as a kid and my favourite memory was just as we were coming off the nullabor plain from Perth to Adelaide we came to the territory checkpoint as the sun was just coming up and saw all the big rigs waiting to cross with their stacks smoking and i hope to go again because there is nothing more majestic than seeing a road train crossing the beauty of Oz.

Well done... Thanks for a simple, matter-of-fact video and music that didn't sound obnoxious. Nicely edited and planned camera angles, as well. The scenery reminds me of the territory I cover in our Great Plains states... 28 years here and now hauling blades and other oversized loads. It seems to be where a lot of old-school drivers end up, for the kids coming out of our driving schools these days often act like they're driving a sports car. Nice looking truck, by the way... It makes me miss the Peterbilt 379 I came out of into a KW T800, though I don't miss all the polishing lol. Thanks for sharing and be safe out there.

Mick, good I watched 3 1/2 days in a Roadtrain, I got to know you retired, I wanted to come to ABC Transport in Adelaide and say hello to you after I watched 7 1/2 days in a Roadtrain, I met Jeffrey Bull from Bulls Transport Pty in rehab at Hamstead road rehab center in Oct/Nov in 2019, Great man he was, he tried very hard to keep himself positive because somehow he must have known he didn't have much time left, it was very very hard to know the time came, he died at home I think few days after being let to go home. Mick you Truckers are Great people, you drive through though sealed roads, the country around you in Australia is still very uninhabitable in most places and very unpredictable nearly all the time, when I was little I went to school with Aboriginals in La Perouse Botany Bay Sydney in the 50's, I hope you and Sally have a GREAT day today, and thank you for your Christmas greetings, I hope you two have the VERY BEST too. Thank you. awesome. I live in Darwin and 1. My brother did the same job and I saw him do some of the work you showed and loved seeing him each week and was in awe of his work and 2. always appreciated the really bloody hard work you people do so we can get fed (and other stuff). A big thank you. also, we have driven this stretch quite a few times in 26 years and now I want to do another road trip!!! A great video, so glad you were able to do it. I know you missed many "hard work" bits :). cheers

Backing two trailers yes, backing three is another operation. There would not be too many that can do the three.

@@ronsummers4090 Most of Guy's still running 18 speed Eaton boxes (Road Rangers)... Engines often Cummins 650hp, C15 Cats or if it's a Freight shaker it'll be the trusty n thirsty series 60 Detroit. Load capacity from memory 110T for a triple??? I pulled B Triples or Doubles from Toowoomba Brisbane to Northem Perth configerations up the Stuart were allowed triples as you saw... Braking distance... Hmmm Often the guys just coasted to a stop to make the other guys sleeping more pleasant... Turning circle etc.... Worst thing we had to look out for was not to turn to sharp, as the Dolly would hit the ring feeder and bend the eye...So the theory would be... Try to take the turn as wide as possible to make it less stressful on the gear... Hope this helps some what .?

@@ronsummers4090 the torque is even more impressive than the horsepower. 2000 foot-pounds. Compared to cars where the torque number is often similar to the horsepower number, around 200 or so.

@justcruisinwithmicksally837
@justcruisinwithmicksally837 2 жыл бұрын
Brett it is so hard to record an average speed with triples but I would say that all speeds are to road conditions and where possible we would maintain 100kph.
