In this video I am testing out the latest change in 3.23 ePTU for the stand alone salvage/repair gun as well as comparing it with the multi-tool salvaging and repairing functions. And I am really happy about these changes. What do you think? Enjoy!

I’ve been waiting for this, able to repair our ships ourself, can’t wait to be able to repair every aspect, and have it be more meaningful/worth it Vs just claiming, etc. Exit: ya what others said and even better 😅

Great video! Did the notes say that the crafted tool was LESS efficient? Any salvager worth their salt would want to salvage as much as possible.

My concern with this, as cool as it is, is that hand repairing your ships hull or components will never, ever matter in the least so long as you can just go to a hangar or station and request an immediate, cheap, on demand repair.

in 3.22.1i experienced a bug with the large Cambio SRT canister, a full one when double clicking it to your ammo slots on to your character became empty, but was still full when dragging it on to your ammo slots.

You was looking at the distance to the ships center and not the part of the hull your was repairing. So most probably the small tool repairs at a distance from the hull of 4 to 5 meters and the larger one at 8 to 10 meters. That would explain what was happening.

yep, I was thinking about the same after this video. If we put a player there, we probably see the multitool is about 5 to 6 meters from the point of salvaging area.

this is actually awesome for off-grid gameplay. go find some junk in the asteroids, or a dead ship, salvage it with the gun, repair your pirate ship. if only they add a way to scavange left over hydrogen and quantum from dead ships they could create a whole lone-wolf station-free play style.

It looks like the range doubled from the previous value of the small multi tool. So if it was 10m before now it's 20m but the small multitool get a 6m bump ?
