In Path of Exile 3.24 Necropolis I'm going to use Cleave of Rage Berserker Build as my league starter - here is my STEP BY STEP Beginner friendly Guide from Lvl 1 to T16 / Endgame.

So even after expected nerf in 3.24 necropolis Cleave of Rage is going to be crazy strong as both league starter build and a possible endgame one.
I'm going to league start with it myself so you can always follow progress on my twitch.
Crazy amount of AOE makes Cleave of Rage basically a ranged skill that can hit the whole screen without any issue - it is fun, fast and satisfying.

Thank you so much for creating a beginner-friendly guide. I just started playing two weeks ago and managed to reach Act 4 with Cleave, which I really enjoyed. I initially followed my own path building, using dual-wielding axes and pathing similar to what you recommended. However, I later realized that the meta suggests leveling with a two-handed weapon. After I re-sepected to follow the meta, I found that the original pathing was much more enjoyable and effective. I've since stopped playing, waiting for the new league to start, and I'm really looking forward to using your guide to learn more about the game and have fun with Cleave of Rage.

Thank you very much - the only 2 things that you should care about are 1. Weapons - if you dont loot good ones DMG can suffer, make SURE to update it often enough. 2. i will be doing this but with spectral throw or splitting steel early game for fast lvling then change to boneshatter or directly change to cleave of rage if i got the transfirgured gem early but in slayer

Remember call to arms is no longer in the passive tree but an support gem. So change out increased duration for call to arms, and the enduring cry is automated.

AMAZING guide but i do have one question if you do not get slitherpinch on league start how are you gonna fix mana because the only mana leech you could get is with clusters or other unique items is clarity enough for mana sustain through the campaign ?

Thank you very much for the nice words! There are 2 options for that. On SC I will buy Slitherpinch ASAP since it is very common and cheap. On SSF I would go for Life And Mana Leech node to the right starting path from golem blood. It is a waste of 7 points but is an option. You can also try to paly with Mana Flask + Clarity as I did before I had Slither myself. Could help as well. Cheers!

How i can deal with degen from ascendancy when in maps or bossing? The degen makes me die easily with DoT :(

Any reason why Rage Support isn't used? Seems to give about the same amount of DPS as Melee Phys Support (using the lvl 90 Skill/Tree/Gear in PoB) and you get another 1 Rage per 0.4 sec

I just don't really like that it works good only when you are at maximum rage - so make rapping it up harder. But it is personal preferences and you can use Rage Support just fine. Cheers!

I have a question i am really squishy with this build i keep getting one shot. Its my first league and this build is fun, but i cant survive any t12+ map any idea why?

Hey there! Well, Berserker by itself is a pretty squishy ascendancy - you also use Abyssus which makes it even more squishy. To fix the situation you can change the helmet and add Grace as an Aura + some suppress exactly like showcased in the endgame version of the same build - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a6eWnNKB17bGnZc.html Check it out - it can help for sure. Yeah it is perfectly viable with it - I'm even taking resolute early on. Get precise Technique after it and it will work pretty great!

quick question: in the endgame setup (lvl90) you still have axe mastery skilled which increases dmg in blood stance and aoe in sand stance but you dont run blood and sand anymore as a gem in the lvl90 setup. is that an oversight or am i missing something?

Hey there! Well yeah, you are missing that even if you don't have a stance skill you are counted like you are in blood stance by default. However this interaction is whacky (since it is harder to check) and could be patchout in any moment.

I have a question. I use pride, precision and determination at the same time, and having 716 reserved and 33 unreserved mana doesn't seem to work very good for me. I have fuel the fight and the mana leech is 165, but why isn't it working properly? Maybe I should have more unreserved mana, though I don't think it's the case? What is it that makes your mana get locked at the bottom without fully restoring ever? Maybe it'll help idk

It would work alright since they are not mandatory and pretty common. However you will slow down between yellow and Red maps for sure. which is typical for SSF. Cheers!

Curious about how much rage is too much, lots of options for EDR with southwest of tree now as well. Very interesting time to have an already good cleave build to start with and build from! (esp with determined survivor for some more comfy attack speed + a bleed angle to this!)

I'm sure it's just me but you have the Axe Mastery node that gives 30% damage when in blood stance but I'm not seeing blood and sand or flesh and stone. Confused how you are getting the blood stance without them.

I commented about it a few times there - Blood Stance is the default stance, you are considered to be in Blood even if you don't have any related auras. Hope it helps!

SSF for sure - HC, well you will need to change it. Since is is Berserk (!) with Burgonet (!) it can be dangerous in HC. I would probably do a different version with more defense nd without Cargnage / Burgonet.

You are in Blood Stance by default and do not need a gem to have the DMG bonus from mastery.

@@toughdrew6063 It is a default stance, if you don't have a particular gem you are always considered like in the Blood stance. Just without bonusses - but you can take such things as mastery for additional damage.

I'm finding this incredibly squishy and weak. I can't seem to get through even yellow maps without constant deaths. I'm lvl86 and DPS is hovering at around 90Kish with no rage, but doesn't feel strong at all. What's the key for survivability and maxing DPS? (BTW, big thanks for such a detailed guide, I know the issue is somewhere on my noobish end :P )

Hey there! Well, since it is a Berserker(!) with Burgonet(!!) it should feel pretty squishy until you get GRACE in at least. But DPS should be very good on almost all steps (rage is crucial btw, use Rage support for faster stack if you need it). So generally your key to survivability is progressing further to get Grace in and use better items as well. Since it is a starter the goal is just to push you up to Red maps and let you do the atlas - check endgame version here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a6eWnNKB17bGnZc.html And look into basic 25D version in here - it has grace, more dmg and freezes enemies so it should feel better. I deal with degen mostly with a flask and innate regeneration from the tree. Consecrated also could help.

Update: I quit on day 3, League is really hard. Build was ok but not for this league. Too squishy. and i dont want to level another character.

Well it is not that bad as an update - Berserks tend to be kind of squishy especially with Burgonett. Check out my endgame update later on - it survives better due to a few mechanics on top of the basic. And thank you for watching as usual!

Your guide is great. But honestly, I never died so much in early maps before.. I must be doing something wrong? I get instantly 1 tapped by any DoT and most ranged attacks.

Thank you for the nice words. Well, since you don't have great AOE while leveling it could be harder to pull off since it is a melee skill without great defenses. I wouldn't recommend it as a Hardcore build for sure. Getting Fortify Early + stacking health vigorously can help with it tho. Cheers!

Definitely LESS tanky. Especially against Phys - for Cleave your best defense is your AOE clear which helps with killing stuff before it touches you. Cheers!

It is a build with 120 rage and x3 generators. Berserks is always up. It is also a starter - so Chaos res obviously cant be maxed in realistic environment on day 2. Cheers!

@@ronarrayIt took 1/3 of Atoll to hit full rage and you only used Berserk once. I play Chains of Emancipation Berserker every league and saying Berserk is always up on this build is just wrong. I play SSF and will always have 30% chaos resist on day 2, you could use amethyst rings to at least hit 0%

I just don't use Berserk during mapping - there is no point in that. The skills clears so good as you can see that nothing can touch you anyway.

You try a better leveling gem, leveling normal cleave just looks miserable.

Worked just fine for me, decent speed as well and nice boss timings - you can compare it yourself.

Ya it seems fine for a 7 hour campaign. I'd prolly level splitting steel or RoA. Double your time but appreciate the in depth guide. Killer for sure, just needs a better end game pob.

@@bentaylor3089 Yeah, I will do a proper endgame version later on in the league. This one is just a starter that I expect to pass at like Day 2 Haha Splitting is good too - Gl to you on the league start man!

@@ronarray for sure you too. its between Rage of Cleave or frostblades tricksters to swap to a bosser lol as my week 1. With how well RoC showed last league im sure week 1 saviors going be 10-15div rofl.
