EDIT: Please don't throw hate towards the scrambler, he almost certainly didn't do it with intent. While it's very clear that the intended scramble was very different, the scramble was off by one move.

Because of how different these two scrambles are, I don't feel like I missed out on anything, because I would have gotten a normal time on the correct scramble anyways. If anything, I'm more motivated to practice 3x3 seriously and fix my bad habits 👍

Timeline of events: 1) Blue stage gets really backed up, and Red stages finishes while everyone on blue has only done around 3-4 solves. 2) Due to 3x3 Finals being split into 2 waves, the faster half was all in the last wave, meaning we didn't have as much competent staff. 3) Some random kid walks into the scrambling area and starts scrambling. 4) Ray's misscramble gets sent out. 5) Very loud reaction, etc etc, then apparently that kid starts "bragging" about how he scrambled Ray's cube. 6) We go to check the scramble (luckily some dad happened to record it) and find it was a misscramble. It didn't happen in transit and it didn't look anything like what he was supposed to get. 7) We announce to everyone including the dozens of kids trying to swarm the scrambling area that it was a misscramble. 8) The scrambler was nowhere to be found (we assumed he quietly left after he found out it was a misscramble). 9) Ray gets an extra and all eyes are on him, likely adding a lot more pressure to his solve.

@@TetraCubing After further investigation, it turns out it was off by one move, but made the scramble very different. I'll update the description when scrambles are released on wca

Here is what I remember 1. I finished up my 3x3 solves and brought my stuff to data entry 2. Start uploading the videos I recorded while talking to my dad 3. Ray gets the 3.54 and everyone starts freaking out I peek over and think it was a 13.54 cause I couldn’t see it good 4. I walk over there while everyone is still freaking out and see 3.54 and then start to high 5 Ray 5. They bring Ray and his cube back to the scrambling table and check it 6. While they are trying to check the scrams a ton of kids including me start swarming the scrambling table and Ryan tells them to leave but I stayed 😎 7. They ask everyone if anyone recorded it luckily a dad recorded it and they brought him to the table 8. They later found out it was a miscramble and everyone was sad then the day ended and so does this comment

What I remember: 1. I was done with my 3x3 solves, and I was packing up 2. Several people started screaming and clapping, so I ran over there to check what happened 3. I saw 3.54 on the timer so I also started clapping 4. An organizer shows up and asks for footage of the solve 5. Me (and a bunch of other people) watch the delegates deciding if it’s a mis scramble or not 6. Everyone was impatient for the decision 7. Finally an organizer tells everyone that it was a misscramble 8. That was an interesting end to a comp

I heard that the misscramble was intentional and that the kid literally fled when they started figuring out that it was a misscramble

Just like Yiheng with his misscramble WR average, you cannot be kept back from a sub four! Even though the LL skip was lucky, the xcross and lookahead took serious skill! good luck for your next WR top ten solve :)

What is considered as a misscramble? And how it can happen? Could someone give an explanation.

A misscramble is when a scramble is different from an intended scramble that is generated specifically for the round group and solve # of that group. Usually it is the responsibility of the scrambler to make sure that the scramble on the cube matches the scramble on the screen (since scrambles are generated using a computer application). A misscramble usually happens out of forgetting to check if the scramble matches the scramble on the screen. Scramblers usually have a section on the scorecard where they sign to show that they were the one who scrambled the cube, and that the scramble has been applied correctly.
