Bluetooth - Drawbacks 1 - Increases radiation 2 - Increases battery drain in phones and also needs itself to be charged 3 - Quality not as good as wired 4 - Latency. Many people use karaoke APPS (Latency is the biggest issue for them.. music does not sync with voice) 5 - Microphone capture not as good a wired headset (due to location of Mic). Wired headset's mic can be moved near the mouth. Using through extender/converter- Drawbacks 1 - Adds an inconvenience of carrying an extender always 2 - Cannot connect headset while charging 3 - C Type ports are not universal .. (not sure whether any extender will support 3.5 MM). Use or proprietary product increases. 4 - Increases a trouble shooting point (Phone connector or extender or Jack which is faulty??/ Also have to check software support) Advantages of Wired Headset 1 - No drain on phone battery when using wired headset 2 - No charging required for a wired headset against a bluetooth headset (saves carbon footprint) 3 - No radiation (bluetooth headsets and phones having bluetooth turned on, do add to radiation) 3 - Low Latency (both Mic and earphones) 4 - Best sound Quality (as good as your phone can deliver) 5 - Cheap and affordable (Any C-Type to 3.5MM adapter itself is as costly as a low priced wired headset / decent bluetooth headsets are also expensive) 6 - Doubles as a Phone off on / a Shutter for taking a Pic / volume Rocker Cost of 3.5 MM port is only Rs 100 - Rs 200. Don't understand why they are removing this feature. I fully support to have this feature as a BIS standard so that it is made available on every phone and never removed. Before buying any smartphone, I always check 3.5mm jack. If it is available, then only add it to my buy list.

Few months ago(before the COVID-19 hit ), the headphone jack wasn't working on my Redmi Note 4, so I took it to the service centre in Ballygaunge, Kolkata, and they told me that, it is not a repairable thing so the whole motherboard needs to be replaced and it will cost around 5500 for the 3+32 variant, (but I was having 4+64 variant) Well I wasn't that dumb to believe them, so I took it to Chadni, Kolkata local, and got a jack replacement for 300 rupees. This is how the brand loots us nowadays.

These brands are killing some very useful features: 3.5mm jack, dedicated micro sd slote etc ..and promoted useless features: curve/waterfall display, 100000mp camera, 1+2+3+4+5...rear cameras, 10000watt charger...

The 3.5mm jack is simply removed to create a new product which can be sold to the masses, wireless earphones. If it really helped manufacturers innovate so much that they would remove such an essential component to multimedia enthusiasts, they would also either supply you with good quality wireless earphones or a high quality USB to 3.5mm jack adaptor in the box. But guess what, they don't. You need to buy these components instead. Worse, these accessories which must have been shipped in the box are launched almost right beside the phone they're supposed to complement. They're trying to do this to chargers and the big name youtubers are accepting it almost without as much as a whimper. What's next, the screen? Lol.

Bluetooth earphone problems: 1. Latency. 2. If connected to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi internet speed reduces. Makes ping so high that you cannot play online games even with high speed broadband connection. 3. Very expensive. 4. Needs charging. 5. Bluetooth gets interrupted if some other bluetooth devices are on nearby

With the upcoming new Bluetooth standard and superior codecs, the demise of headphone jack is eminent. Removal of headphone jack was way too early for the time and still is. Professional Audiophiles will still use Amplifiers for at least a decade to come .

I was about to buy one plus nord I like everything about that smartphone but due to lack of 3.5mm jack I changed my mind... (I support 3.5mm jack coz it is easy to use in earphones as well as if you have any stereo systems in ur house with 3.5mm connectors)

U are absolutely right 3.5mm jack is must coz main issue is with me the type c port placement if there is a type c port on right side or left side on corners it is different but type c is in middle like if i want to place somewhere i cannot place it any where in potrait mode u cant hold ur phone for so long in hands if u r watching any content or u need any support to place ur phone on while resting on sofa. N bluetooth tws r having so much latency. Silicon ear tips doesn't fit in my ears that is my next problem I have to find a tws with good sound quality and no latency n good fit in my ears these problems just kept increasing TBH type c port placement should be on right side coz it will be easy for us to atleast get use too it one more thing type c jack is thicker than 3.5mm it feels annoying to hold phone connected earphones to phone through type c port which is in middle espically

See the problem is that initially removal of the earphone jack was ideally supposed to pave the way to replace the old analogue port with a modern digital port - using usb c for audio. As USB C supports digital output, USB C earphones were supposed to change the audio landscape by integrating a DAC and thus making sound quality independent of the phone you are using. But... This never happened. First of all the implementation of USB C was all over the place - different manufacturers using different USB interfaces without ever defining them so all USB C accessories wouldn't work with every phone. Secondly the humongous success of the Apple Airpods made companies realize that there is way more profit in pushing Bluetooth and True Wireless Nonsense than in USB C earphones. So now we have reached a point where USB C audio is dead on arrival and the sole reason for companies to remove the 3.5 mm jack is to sell you BT earphones.

My main concern about not having a 3.5 mm jack is that my fingers stuck because of the type c port in the middle. So, if they give the type c port in a side where the 3.5 mm jack used to be like the ROG 3 then I would have no problem. Also they should give a type c to 3.5 mm and type c converter in the box.
