Please read about the Osogbo -Fulani war of 1840. The Yoruba sent the Fulani running with their tail between their legs back to Sokoto. They Did not venture back down south until the British handed them power at Independence. Ilorin was lost due to subterfuge of a Yoruba warrior traitor, not by conquest.

@@alphaomarbarry6511 That is patently false. They may have conquered large swathes of the Sahel but not most of WA, not even close.

How did Britain “hand Fulāni power”? Explain how exactly? Because last I checked, the president of Nigeria at the time of independence was His excellency Nnamdi Azikiwe and the Prime Minister was the great Tafewa Balewa….. Neither of which were Fulani. The Key positions in Nigeria’s government before 1963 were not held by Fulani either. The puppet Emirate system was only kept in tact for traditional purposes only; the real Sokoto leaders fled before 1903……. I’m calling on honest Africans, especially Fulani, to ban together to intellectually debunk this foolishness that is being propagated on Social Media. The lies these people peddle is essentially justifying genocide and must be challenged.

Man I hate this Jihad stuff. No one should impose their religion on others I dont care what the religion is Christianity, Catholicism, Islam, Hinduism, or whatever.

This had nothing to do with imposing a religion. Islam had been in the area for centuries prior to the revolution of 1804. This was about overthrowing who Shehu Dān Fodio perceived as corrupt Muslim leaders.

@@stillwaters5134then why didn't he stopped at the hausa lands that you claimed had corrupt Muslim Leaders. He just had to go down south to impose his forceful impose of religion too.

U seems to make this damfodio thing look so simple and fair, the so called jihad cost so many innocent people their lives and displaced many indigenous people from their ancestral home land in which Fulani took those land after displacing the people. Usman damfodio and his blood thirsty army plan to conquer southern Nigeria but in Benue state WE STOPPED HIM and we defeated his army and they ran out of our land in big shame, we the benue people were the ones that stoped Usman damfodio from matching down to southern Nigeria

Say what you want about the Fulani Jihad, what they never did was replace an population with theirs. There is not a single town with a Fulani monarch that has a Fulani majority population. This isn't unique in history, the Ruling houses of Europe all trace the ancestry to Germany. The King of England is from the German city of Saxe coburg and Gotha, these Germans ruled over not just England but other states like Denmark. The Fulani emir of Illorin has a majority yoruba community, they never chased anybody out of their land. If you have have any example of Fulani replacement show me pls? ALL Fulani monarch rule over non Fulani town's.

@@abdul-rafeeqabubakar5713 It's a shame that Usman damfodio came conquered and dethroned the various monarchs in northern Nigeria and replace those monarchs with his Fulani friends and family members and till today those Fulani monarchs are still holding power. The fact is we the benue people defeated Usman damfodio army, we stopped the caliphate from extending to southern Nigeria

@@abdul-rafeeqabubakar5713 The fact is Usman damfodio jihad was largely a success in northern Nigeria exception of kenem-bruno. But in the case of benue, it was a decisive Victory for the benue people
