Technically, it's a Hei Matau, a Maori/Polynesian necklace that is believed to bring safety at sea, but Maui is from around the same place, so you're close enough Fun fact: Maui's hook is actually from his Grandmother's jaw bone, its size was just exaggerated in Moana
