In Paris, France I used most of my money going to the bathroom. lol. In newer cities/states in Mexico the diameter of the pipes are larger so you can flush, but in most of of Mexico it is a no, no.

When I visited Scotland you had to pay to use public restrooms. You didn't have to pay in restaurants, but any tourist spot you paid 1-2 euros

Same in Germany - I recall needing to tip the attendant. I think the paper is an issue also because of the sewer system. I think the waste water is in some places, released in to the underground water ie: in Yucatan & QRoo there is vast inter connected river system beneath the surface which is where waste water is released often untreated

The problem is the diameter of the plumbing. Mexico messed up in a big way with too narrow of pipes.

😆 A confrontation I had in Mexico was when I didn't have any money to pay to use a public restroom and I used the bathroom anyway and was asked for pesos as I walked away and was cursed in very good English as I walked away. 😆

That’s why everyone should read up on an country they visit and know what to expect and how things work. I haven’t been anywhere in Mexico where I don’t have some toilet paper and small change in my purse. Even baby wipes or hand sanitizer because some public bathrooms don’t have a working faucet. It is what it is.

Most public toilets are not equipped with seats. Places like Walmart, Sams, and Costco will have seats. Also Costco requests that you flush your paper. Not sure why. It’s been three yrs since I lived there, so some things may have changed. I live in a rural part of Florida at the moment where we have septic systems. I practice throwing my toilet paper in the trash here so that I won’t have to have the septic cleaned out as frequently.

Traveled to Colombia same issues there. Older systems have problems with tp, but especially with sanitary pad. People don’t want to look at what’s coming out their butt, but it’s an early sign of when things are going wrong on the inside.

Maybe was the only solution to have control of public bathrooms. Have you even gone to luxury places in the USA is a problem people just don't care and smell bad. Is a human problem .

I’m always amazed how many people think this stuff is a big deal. We live in mexico and had visitors from the US. One person said, I LOVE it here, but I couldn’t deal with the bathroom situation. For real?? Yep. Mexico is not for you if you sweat the small stuff.

Well...let me ask you this...what the heck do you do when you have to do a number 2? Cause that can be stinky...yea, I would have to get a bidet or I'm going to have to take that garbage out right after doing that # 2...LOL...LOL...hehe
@MoveAbroadandThrive

Its not as bad as you ‘stink’… i mean ‘think’ lol. Millions of people do it every day in Mexico. It wont bother you after a while. My wife does take the trash out daily, sometimes twice daily. As i mentioned in video, theres scented trash bags and u can get a good trash can with a lid that seals well and u wont have any odors at all. Its really not an issue once u get used to it over a couple months. We dont even think about it

You're right about it not being solely a Mexico issue. Went to Thailand and it was the same. And, as you say, I had no problem with it nor was there anything off-putting about having to do it. No odors or unsettling issues about it. You adapt. And, quiet as it's kept, there are places in the U.S. where it's required as well. Btw, an issue that I would appreciate hearing your perspective on is "water shortages." Recently asked one of your friends about it and she said there were no water shortage issues in Mexico. I just chalked it up to her lack of knowledge on the issue. So, do you experience those issues in Merida? I know Monterey, for one, has had crazy issues with it. Stay safe.

@@nakho3550 Lol. I am a flight attendant for 28 years and have been all over the world many, many times. Mexico is my second home. Been in Mexico thousands of times as I lived near the border for 55 years. Now I live near a different border and still frequent Mexico. I fly on a regular basis to Mexico. My favorite place to go to. Oops..guess you were wrong nakho. You should never assume about anyone. You could have asked instead you made a fool out of yourself with that smart ass remark to me.
