So I finally got these with average-sized woman hands, and here are some of my tips: - For Charlier, if you don't have enough palm-finger separation to keep your thumb on the top packet, when you push the cards back with your index finger, also slightly angle the top packet down against your middle and ring fingers. This allows the top packet to balance between those fingers and the bottom packet so when your thumb does lose contact with the top packet, the cards are stable enough to complete the cut. - For Rotation, instead of using your ring finger to push in the bottom packet towards you and wedging your finger between the packets, completely forget about moving the bottom packet. Instead, when you transfer the packet to your pointer and thumb, go ahead and push the packet away from you with your thumb and bring your ring around/below the top packet so that it's against the short side of the bottom packet and somewhere along the bottom of the top packet. Release your thumb, completing the top packet rotation with your pointer and ring. You might need to bring your thumb back towards you to move the bottom packet enough so that you can deposit the old top behind it. This is basically doing what he's doing in the video except you're doing part of the rotation with your thumb and pointer since your hands aren't big enough to be able to wedge your ring finger between the two packets and be able to complete the move with any fluidity. - And then there's Scissor lol. Instead of doing that really cool run your thumb alongside the deck to lift the top packet, I just immediately move my thumb to the short side of the deck and draw half the cards in a completely horizontal motion. It's not as flashy, but my thumb just isn't long enough to get good leverage on a separated pack of cards like that. And then you're just going to have to work on flexibility to do the rest of the cut lol. It's possible though!

For those struggling with the revolution cut: do what he does, not what he says. The index finger should NOT go right up to the corner. If you watch around 9:45, he places his index finger about a third of the way down the side of the top packet, maybe even lower. I struggled with little success for a good half hour until I tried positioning the index lower and got it almost immediately.

this is also the first one i learned, however i do it slightly different. it could be because i have short fingers, or they are not long enough ;) @ 3:18 when the cards are slightly catty corner in the middle, the way i do it is the cards near the thumb completely clear the cards above and the above cards fall due to gravity. it's just a variation or possibly even what will naturally happen ifyou follow vid posters instructions and having practiced for some time. i have been playing with cards since a kid though and one handed deck cutting for some reason came naturally to me. i do it both ways. this way and also the way where you grab the upper part of the deck between forefinger and middle finger and manipulate the upper set of cards, spinning them a little bit underneath the lower set of cards. these video's randomly came up for me today and i'm kind of glad it did. after watching a few video's i said to myself, i have a couple decks of cards in good condition and started cutting one handed to make sure i can still do it. i am 53 now lol.

i can say with confidence i can now pull off all the splits in this video, its been almost 3 days and if i with zero hand i cordination can pull them off then anyone can pull them off. my hands r decent size, nothing like this mans massive hands but not all that smol. I slip up every now and then especcialy on the second one, the revolution, but i am getting the hang of pulling them off without thinking too much about them. and if i get frustrated i default to the first one which im actually surprisingly enough really good at pulling off if anyones having trouble, then i suggest focusing for a little bit while watching videos and if your hand starts to cramp or your in a losing streak where you keep failing then take a break, or go to bed and when you wake up or pick up those cards again i garntee you would have leveled up Its exactly like how in ff15 you gain experience throughout the day but only level up after you have rested or slept

@@connorchen630 okay but everyone is different dude, one way might not work for another. Yes practice always helps but being double jointed helps a lot in this type of stuff too, same with flexibility in your hands. Also an iPhone 8 is pretty big like double the size of a 5 and you’ve been at it for 3 months so I’d hope you’d have at least a few of these down by then. Why not offer a suggest rather than brag about yourself and making others feel like a failure... just saying

Your Average Piano Dude Since you are left-handed, you should actually be learning this cut with your right hand. This is relatively easy compared to a lot of the more complex stuff in cartistry, so you learn it with your non-dominant hand so your dominant is free to do other things.

At 12 i could do the charlier cut and im a very small 7th grader with small hands. Dont give up guys. A tip is to keep all of your fingers straight up to increase length and remove your thumb earlier than people who have bigger hands. Balance the top packet with your middle ring and pinky finger. It took me 10 minutes to get down with these tips so keep trying

SMALL HANDED PEOPLE READ THIS. I have small hands and was pissed,, After about 10 minutes or so I finally figured out why people say it doesn't matter. when you are holding the top part, you can not let go no matter what, until the bottom reaches the top and your thumb . Force the bottom to bend if ya have to. So only practice one thing. Drop the bottom don't let go of the top no matter what until the bottom reaches your thumb. The cool thing about this is that it is super tight and holds the cards where you need them to be. Let the bottom bend if ya have to,, then ya pretty much just take that last leap of faith and open up your hand and let it drop,,use your pinky to keep them from dropping during the leap of faith... after 10-20 minutes you will get it I promise. I have small hands.. trust me it isn't that hard. i also figured this out by just using half of the deck. that helps too.

I have smaller hands as well, and find on the rotation cut, if you have the packet firmly gripped with the second knuckles, it will flow around and very stable. It did take me over half the day to figure this out.

Wow! Thank you so much. Today is the day I decided to start learning cardistry and at the beginning of this video, I thought for sure my hands were too small. This helped immensely and if there's anyone out there with small hands reading this...give this method a try. Took me no more than 10 minutes to get it down. Just start with half the deck then keep adding cards in until you nail it with the full deck. Thank you Todd!!!

holy mother of glory, so with the second cut, i found it stupid hard, at least the first part HOWEVER if u skip to the half way point after failing the first part of it, and succesffully do it (the last half i mean) then it feels almost natural and easy to do the first part

The scissor is literally impossible if you have a short pointer. Just for those who want to try it and fail repeatedly. I can do the first two no problem, but my pointer fingers are weirdly the size of my pinkies. No worries, lots of options for cuts, but that is one issue where this is literally impossible.
