I've been building models for 64 of my 74 years and watching your videos is a true inspiration. I have only been building wooden models for the past 4 years and find them a real challenge. Watching your attention to even the smallest detail is amazing. Your models are actually miniatures of the real thing, which makes them special. Please keep building and inspiring. I hope to watch your future videos for many years to come. Thanks for sharing with us.

I am working on this model at the moment, and I am truly impressed with the quality of the kit and the attention to detail. Having said that though, as someone who has sailed an actual shallop, I do have a few quibbles. Construction-wise, I found that the futtocks if you glue them in the provided jig, end up being a millimeter or so short of reaching the slot on one side of the framing jig. To get around this, I've been sanding and filing the floor timbers and futtocks, placing them in the jig and drilling a pair of holes, one in each futtock that go through into the floor timber. I then carve a tiny trunnel and push it into the hole so that the futtock rotates around it. I then put the frame into place on the keel making sure that the futtocks are fitted into the side slots of the jig before gluing them. It's time consuming, but I think it''s worth it. In terms of accuracy, the rudder is too thick. It needs to be bevelled as it goes aft. I'm also not planning on fitting the brass wear plates between the thole pins for the oars. I'm a maritime historian, and I've never seen any evidence of those. The ends of the planks should be feathered so that they lie flat against the stem and stern posts. On the real thing, they'd be fitted into a rabbet on the posts. They should also probably have a rolling bevel at each end top and bottom so that they go from clinker to carvel in appearance at bow and stern which would help them lie in the rabbet and keep her from leaking at the hood ends. Also, belaying pins should be round not square. I'm planning on fitting the ones in the thwart knees before I glue them in place. Just my observations so far ;

Yes, your comments are absolutely correct! Therefore, it is your conscientiousness that should turn a kit with blanks into a historically accurate copy! The laser cuts only 90 degrees, and the rest is for work with a file...

Knowing that we ship modelers are a frugal bunch, let me whole-hardheartedly comments the Tamiya Photoetch Bending pliers. Sure, other pliers are almost as good, but the Tamiya ones are just that much better.

Thanks for the tips! But I build this model with almost no tools at all, because I do it during the trip to the homeland))) I have two tweezers, a mini rasp, some sandpaper, a scalpel and a cutting mat. And I barely found a mini hand drill - it was a challenge to find that in the country during the war when it's hard to find even quality food (not expired)...

I don't know if you might find this useful but in a MarisStella kit I'm building the instructions say that burns can be removed with a mild abrasive pad like Dremel 511E and 512E. I tested and I love it, and it does not warp the wood.
