Pete - surprised you didn’t go for the Wall of Sound Power amp simulation with EL34 simulation when demoing the Plexi - these are three preamp flavors and benefit from power amp simulation. The three band EQ section is really powerful. I had to dial back treble and mids a good deal on mine to make it sound closer to Bassman, Plexi, SLO channels. Adding good power tube saturation or emulated saturation brings out the channel flavor authenticity better than straight into clean amp like PS2 or Wall of Sound DynIR but no power tube emulation. Ultimate for me was into my Rivera tube power amp cranked up with Rockcrusher taking to line level, then reamping into real cabs. Nails the SLP, Bassman sounds, then back off the power tube saturation a bit for the SLO since most of a real SLO sound is on the preamp. It still has a sweet spot turning up power tubes pretty warm, but with no breakup on the tubes, unlike the Plexi channel. Right before breakup on Bassman channel too, to stay very clean but increase dynamic response and warmth of the Bassman. Bassman also sounds good with power tubes breaking up. Somewhat like a JTM45 cranked up. They are all very good sounding preamp channels but need the right power amp/power amp simulation to sound the most authentic to what they are modeled after. CAB M+ has that ability also to emulate power tubes. EL34’s, 6L6’s, or KT88’s sound great with all three.

I got one a few days ago and I can't stop playing since. It soinds really really good. All 3 channels are awesome. I use my headrush just for FX in send and a GE7 to shape the input sound but that's almost luxury. The pure sound on its own is the best I'va had till now (play on JCM800, 5150, Double Rectifier...). Hapy to see one of my favorite guitar youtubers talk about it. Thanks Pete.

Great demo👍 I love this pedal, I paired it with my HX Stomp for IR and some effects and output on a 12 inch FRFR Speaker also sounds great on my Creamback Cab … only thing I don‘t like is the build in V30 Cabsim … it‘s not my preferred sound.

Outrageous! I really don't get people who are still fighting amp sims. Back in 2006-2010 when I was starting out, amp sims were legitimately awful and the reverse was true. I couldn't understand why people were using them. But the past 5 years or so, the rate of improvement has been insane. It's genuinely hard to tell the difference these days. Of course, you'd make a guitar plugged into a tin of beans sound awesome, but this thing sounds absolutely killer! 👌👌✌️😎🔊👀🙏

I imagine it would pair well with any IR loader, Two Notes, Radar, the TC mini pedal IR loader, obviously running into a power amp would work well. I just don't think its doing anything that isn't already being done by a few other manufacturers.

Preordered this little thing, I use it as preamp with practice amp. Sounds amazing, I have little trouble with recording it properly tough. When I use balanced out, the signal level going to my interface is too high to record dstorted sounds, even with single coils. When I use jack out to interface, sound is not as it is on headphone out. It seem like it's recording without IR, but IR is turned off. Need to figure this thing out.

Great review! I was wondering if this is something you would consider running into the Fryette into the Captor X you have on your desk. I mean: theoretically this would be a small, light, versatile, tube driven, stereo option. I love my Captor X and I've been thinking to what extent I could simplify my rig to a box-sized full tube circuitry into the X. Would that make any sense tonally speaking? Has anyone gone that route or is it better that I stick to my big and heavy tube amps?

How active are the eq controls on the different channels? Wouldn't it make sense to use the wall of sound plugin's power amp section with this if it's just a preamp?

For a grab and go, I just purchased the BluGuitar Iridium. Put it on a pedal board with a tuner, WAH, Dispatch master "delay/reverb pedal", and Cabzeus IR box. Good to go.

Pete: when you used the Two Notes "wall of sound" plugin...how did you deal with latency. This is my fear with using a unit like this to track. It seems like you'd have to monitor directly from your AI (without any cab emulation) and then add the wall of sound afterwards?

I wonder if you stuck this in front of the UAFX Lion 68 could you use the cab sims on the Lion for this- I assume you could. That said- I need to stop buying stuff and make what I have work. The Lion sounds amazing- until you start abandoning the presets and trying to setup your own rig- good luck. I've never had a modeler this difficult to get good tones out of- that said, when you get them- they sound better than any other modeler I've tried.

Pete have you consider recording videos in 1080p 60fps?

3:28 can you show the example of hooking the revolt to the cab M via midi? Coz i don’t think cab M has a midi port. The only way to switch settings on the cab M is through the bluetooth or usb port. If the tube is flashing in the footage, it's actually the LED behind it on the PCB. Analog tubes don't flash, they glow when supplied with the correct voltage. LEDs on PCBs flash at really high frequencies.

As I understand this pedal is a preamp so you still need a power amp pedal to push volume into a passive cab or I’m completely lost?

Channel 2 sounded very good. Ch 3 rhythm through the plugin - not so much. Mushy mush, no attack. Ch 3 with the analog sim and boost sounded really nice with your lead, but you could make pretty much anything sound good when you play a lead. One thing you didn't demo was ch 1 with gain cranked. Does it do any edge of breakup tones? Thanks!

I would choose the Revolt any day over the Amptser. Way more character.

Meh. Maybe this pedal would've been "something" like, maybe, ten years ago, but considering all the better sounding alternatives currently available, both analog and digital, it''s coming off as really little more than a still-born dinosaur these days.

I usually a fan of Two Notes, but this one is really bad product. Unusable boost, lead channel has a fuzz pedal always on, no USB, no power on/off. Overall not worth the money.

Way overpriced. No real differences in the tones as demo’d. why died he need to start out over the top with volume and drive. Found one at pawn shop for $85 and that was still too much to pay. It’s up for sale on my eBay $85 free ship.
