Saw Chuck Berry in St Louis in 2015 in the Duck Room at Blueberry Hill. Very small venue. Seated at the stage .. even set our beers on the stage. He was definitely not in his prime in 2014 but it didn't matter, the guy is one of the great legendary guitarists of all time. He even joked that he had to do the duck walk early in the set cause otherwise he wouldn't be able to get up afterwards. It was such a thrill to see him so up close, I'll never forget it. Thanks David.

Too bad that title ,King of Rock and roll went to the wrong person,but Chuck was black and we couldn't have that in this milky way white world,especially in the 50s.Presley was the King of entertainers,he was good a t that, entertaining,thats why he had a gig in vegas.Elvis never did play an open air gig that I know if ,probably couldn't sell one out im not sure why.just sayin

Amen! You are 100% correct about Chuck Berry being the true King Of Rock and Roll. I have admired and idolized the man all my life. He was a fantastic guitar player, but in addition to this a supremely talented songwriter and singer. To this day, there is NOBODY who comes close to him in terms of his enormous talent and influence. He was a complicated man in many ways, but nothing can take away from his musical greatness.

Sending appreciation for this comprehensive how-to lesson. LNL work better than most because of the relaxed approach you bring to these licks. Nice blue lava lamp too. Hadn't realized previously that double stops seem to require only downstrokes with the pick.
@aylbdrmadison1051
@aylbdrmadison1051 3 жыл бұрын
You can use either down strokes or up strokes for double stops, or both, or finger pick them. This is just how Chuck played them. It all depends on the sound you want, or the style you're emulating.

I thought CC Deville took all Chuck Berry licks and gave it a new facelift with the made 80's glam rock riffs and licks. If late night lessons makes a CC Deville Solo licks lesson you will hear a lot of Chuck Berry licks and Randy Rhoads scalar sequencing at the same time. CC Deville lesson and Jerry Garcia 1974 live at winterland lesson used Chuck Berry licks for the uptempo songs with his Garcia scalar sequencing

@ronr7905
@ronr7905 3 жыл бұрын
This was a good one. Double stops are excellent for adding those extra notes and harmonics. If I could recommend lessons from two other guys from that era with cool licks it would be Eddie Cochran, and Cliff Gallup from Gene Vincent's band. Along with Hank Marvin from The Shadows and Scotty Moore from the Elvis Presley Band, they were also very influential. But Chuck Berry... wow. He, then later Hendrix and Van Halen completely changed the way the instrument was approached and they inspired millions to play guitar.

Love this one and now wonder what took you so long to do this one. 😎 Chuck is the godfather of rock 'n' roll for very good reasons! He just rocked and had fun doing it, the very spirit of rock music was definitely established within his approach to doing the songs, I'd dare say.

I love Richard, he was a very, very important figure, as was Fats Domino, but they were piano men. Chuck Berry almost single handedly made rock'n'roll guitar music and gave the guitar a voice and a personality - as this splendid lesson demonstrates.
