Hello Ben my name is Martin and i am writing to you from a small town near vienna in austria. I want to tell you how much I like your work! Your photos always look so gigantic, your play with light and shadow is enormous, it looks so simple but it is almost impossible to match your performance. Many thanks for your videos

Very inspirational and informative. I'm so glad that I stumbled upon your channel! Interesting to learn that you were quite a heavy weight in the Deadliest Catch series.. always loved those programmes. Best wishes, David in the UK.

Speechless. Also great to see the differences between the focal lengths. The old Nikon 105 is great and I think it was the lense that Steve McCurry used when he captured the Afghan girl. Just well don, as always.

I love the blurred images. I love the composition,light and the locations you've picked. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us and of course for the inspiration. With every new video I learn something new and open my mind to new ideas that I will experiment with, and hopefully share the result with you. I am new to this amazing channel and normally I don't comment on videos, but I have to say you just got yourself a biggest fan from Berlin Germany. Please keep going.

Nicely done Ben. Some seriously stellar results. I enjoyed seeing the different aesthetic each setup brought to the sessions. Yes, to the vintage lens video BTW. I have a huge stockpile of old glass. It’s fun to see what other folks are doing with their old soldiers. Cheers from Canada.

Hello Ben ! As always super inspiring with beautiful images, superb renderings in your prints/photos that magnify the soul of your models ! Also, I like the idea of an accidental blur... It's allow mistakes that end up with creating a movement, a tension, an atmosphere... What an artistic adventure !!! ;-) Thanks again for sharing all this great work ! Warm greetings from Switzerland. Jean-Luc

Hey! Thanks for this one! My experience with this video is that i have the feeling that erlier videos that you made were pointed more towards professionals that are into improving themselves even further. Whereas your later videos like this one seem to point more towards the advanced beginners or amateurs in the community. i might be wrong but thats my experience. Looking forward to your upcoming projects and videos. Kind regards, Kubi

I'm looking forward to see to every post you make Ben. I find your work extremely inspirational and the way you present them are sooo relaxing and fun. Do you do this kind of work only for your own fun and portfolio or does the models hire you for adding new pictures to their portfolio?

Amazing as always. Question. For example in the dam shots. How is your workflow able to capture the speculative light on the model with the background dark when there is so much light about. Are you underexposing in camera or is it in post. I understand you will be constantly changing with avail light. Just amazing how you finish your shots it’s a certain style I want to master. (Maybe a vid, just for me lol)
@adventureStaley
@adventureStaley 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gary, I typically just underexpose some in bright light. These modern sensors are great. I can underexpose several stops on my Leica and still pull it back up fine.
@dhritimanbatchu

A bit of a technical question - in the last set in the woods, how do you capture so much detail in the face and front of the model, considering it's such a strong backlight? It was consistent with the Sony as well as the Q2, where her face really has a shine, yet the background isn't completely blown out. I know you mentioned placement and composition and I didn't see a reflector or a bounce, so is that just the dynamic range of the cameras? As in. underexpose to preserve highlights and then process for the shadows? Loved these images!
@adventureStaley
@adventureStaley 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I generally underexpose a bit and then lift the parts I need to. A stop or two is usually not a problem with modern sensors if you shoot raw. The Leica DNG files can be lifted A LOT. Sony, not as much but we got away with it here..
