Love love San Felipe. I will definitely end up on the eastern side of Baja for my retirement. It is the one place I have felt at home and comfortable in my skin. And literally the most kindest people I have ever met in my entire life!!

Great memories for me. I went to San Felipe with my parents back in the late 60s and stayed in our bus conversion, free camping on the beach. It was wonderful. Tiny town, fishermen came around and sold us fresh fish and clams. So good. And the village was tiny very quaint. Turtle soup was a specialty (I don’t remember having it.) And we bought fresh tortillas from a vendor making them. Fabulous place, simple and poor but so friendly. We didn’t fear anyone back then and no need to….

You've been inspiring me for a few years now and it's SO great to see you and Sadie enjoying feeling so safe and free!! It's visible! I'm finally taking the steps to try my own (at least part-time) RV life in the next few months and have spent years researching places that can truly feel safe in the US for all of us. Now, I've stumbled upon a dream project to create a camping safe haven, guaranteed likeminded and welcoming to LGBTQ+, women, people of color, and all who share values of kindness and compassion - all with a side goal of growing food and hosting veterinary care. If you feel there is an appropriate way to discuss more with you and your closest real friendlies, I'd love to share more.

Wow, I spent so much time in Baja and especially San Felipe as a kid/teen with my family in the 1960s/70s.... It was sure a different place then and even when I went back in the late 1980s. Enjoy it! As for us, my adult son and I decided to go and explore/travel central Mexico starting Nov. 2022....we've now been down here over 15 months and 14 states and applying for residency in May. We're at a rather rural beach in Oaxaca for 4 months....look up Bahia de San Agustin (Huatulco). Yeah. We like those lesser traveled places. Have fun!!!

Love the video! I have been there twice. Once in high school with two truck RVs and a wonderful group of friends. The second time I went in graduate school as part of a course on range management from the U of A. I actually wrote my masters thesis on the Sonoran desert biome in Baja. My hypothesis, which I think was spot on, was that the government should promote tourism, and not cattle ranching.

Mexico must be a boondocker's paradise. I've spent a few nights in Ensenada, actually in July 1976...escaping the "buy-centennial" nonsense. Turned out everything was closed due to a national election. The culture in Mexico is such a stark 180 degree difference from the states. In just a few days of accumulation to it, I actually went through culture shock going back to San Diego. It's a beautiful place because it seems so untamed and raw. Like what the California coast was before Reagan became governor. Folks...these videos are some of Carolyn's best. OMG! I gotta go.

You need to get some good heavy duty Kinetic Tow Ropes (like Yankum) and watch some Matt's Off-road Tecovery of Rvs to learn how to use them. I sure will before I do anything sand related. That way all you may hopefully need is a person with a truck to give you a tug. Oh, and drop your tire's air pressure. Happy Travels!

That ocotillo has a lot of greenery. They must have gotten lots of rain. If you like the markets down there, you can find similar markets in Phoenix and they are very reasonable prices- El Rancho Market. Home made tortillas, fantastic bakery, agau frescos, in store restaurant, and cremaria. Yum.

That its a typical Mexican experience of needing help in Mexico. Mexicans never want to disappoint. That being said if they don't actually no the answer to something like directions they will still give an answer. LOL Baja is spectacular! parts are so primitive I expect dinosaurs to come walking over the hill. Baja has had a large amount of rainfall since last fall. The flora will be glorious, but so will the potholes! Be careful on the roads and I hope you have a beautiful trip. I hope you are going to include a whale watching/petting trip. Easiest place to do that is Guerrero Negro. My husband I will be traveling there next month to see them. We live in San Diego, so Baja is our backyard.
