macmost.com/e-2219 If you want to maximize the size of a window on your Mac, using the obvious controls may not get you what you want. Full Screen mode removes the window from the current desktop and takes it away from other windows. Zooming doesn't always expand the window to fill the screen. Learn how to really expand a window to its maximum size.

Possible with a third-party app. You'd have to have an app running on the Apple TV and probably another app on your Mac and then technically it is possible. Not sure if such an app exists, but a web search for "remote screen display app for Apple TV" seems to show some things.

What are you using to write? Which app, or are you writing directly in a CMS? If so, perhaps the CMS has some settings for this. If not, then using View, Make Text Bigger (hold Option to see that) is the way to go. Or, write your post in Pages or something and then copy and paste.

This works. Zoom gives you the entire page or program. Mac SUCKS that you have to learn this and engage it, everything should simply appear 'zoomed' to begin with.

@macmost
@macmost Жыл бұрын
When you are using a window in Full Screen mode, the window is using an entire "Space" (AKA "Desktop"). Opening another window can't go on top of that space as it is a space for just one entire window. If you want to have two windows overlapping each other, just have a normal Desktop Space with regular windows on it. Full Screen is Full Screen.
@financetips
@financetips Жыл бұрын
@@macmost thank you for the reply. Correct, understand the concept but not enjoying it:( and the worst is to minimise a window need to press that button twice, when expanded. Am I the only one finding it annoying? Also when opening a new APP, I have 3 screens, cant the MAcbook tell that I have 1 empty screen not being used, please display the new window on the blank instead of a screen I am already using.
@macmost
@macmost Жыл бұрын
@@financetips Maybe try some different options to fund the one that works best for you. For instance, expand the window to the largest size but don't use Full Screen mode. Maybe try Stage Manager. Don't minimize, but hide the app instead. There are lots of ways to do it if using Spaces isn't fulfilling your needs.

@macmost

The closest you can get is to assign your own custom shortcut to "Zoom" and use that. Is most cases, the window will go edge-to-edge. In cases where it doesn't, the window will at least expand to the size needed to display all content.

For most windows, double-click an unused spot in the title bar. But for all windows, double-click one corner and then the opposite corner if you really don't want to hold down the option key at the same time.
@Seychelllian
@Seychelllian Жыл бұрын
@@macmost Do we know why Apple doesn’t want us to maximise window size. I should think this is the main resize function that people want to execute. It’s so odd to me that there isn’t a dedicated button for that.
@macmost
@macmost Жыл бұрын
@@Seychelllian It sounds like you want Zoom (double-click the title bar, or use Window, Zoom). This brings the window to the largest size that makes sense. For many apps (most?) it will fill the screen. But if an app has a width or height limit, or the content in the window doesn't need more space, it will stop short of that.
@Seychelllian
@Seychelllian Жыл бұрын
@@macmost Honestly usually the issue for me is with Finder and zooming doesn’t usually make it fill the screen. Also osx doesn’t remember your preference so I can maximise one finder window and when I open another one it will be floating again and I have to maximise it again. I’m going to play around with some window management apps to see if there is an easier solution.
@macmost

@@Seychelllian Right. Finder windows are a good example of when it goes to the maximum size needed, instead of full size. So if you really want it larger, just use any of the methods to make it larger. You have the option to make it larger, so just do it.
