The Paula’s choice is a little bit rough on my sensitive skin. I am currently using the cosrx BHA and I love how gentle it is on my skin. Also it’s so effective! Thank you for sharing your Favorites

The Paula's choice one is my favourite, it's so good at just zapping away breakouts and I find it's the only BHA I can use on my dry skin. Most other BHAs are too drying
@okashi10
@okashi10 3 жыл бұрын
I really wanted to love the Paula's Choice BHA! But it was way too greasy for my oily skin. It left an oily film that never sunk in. I think it's the best product for dry skin. The other Paula's Choice BHAs in blue bottles are not greasy but not as moisturizing. P.S. If anyone is looking for a more lightweight, non-creamy Azelaic Acid, try a product that has the derivative in it. (PAD/Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate) Geek & Gorgeous aPAD, Naturium Azelaic Topical Acid 10%, and Paula's Choice Pore Purifier have it. These are clear serums that are oily-skin friendly. It's also more gentle if normal Azelaic Acid makes you itchy.

I actually read AA gives a dull matifying finish because it’s basically a powder, and that’s my concern with trying it. Do you double that and you think those derivatives in clear serum are less matt?
@okashi10
@okashi10 Жыл бұрын
@@xicalisboa I'm super oily, so I have not noticed any mattifying effect from AA derivatives. I heard that they might be able to balance/reduce sebum production but not anything that I could notice.

Paula's Choice have a few different types of BHA products. My favorite is the Daily Pore-Refining Treatment 2% BHA(light blue bottle). I find the Liquid Exfoliant(Black Bottle) has an oily slip where as the Pore Refining Treatment is completely water base and absorbs into the skin immediately. Its a little more expensive compared to the black bottle, however contains 2 peptides which I think is worth it

My face is very sensitive to AHAs as well. I use the Naturium mandelic acid serum 1x per week. I bought the Some By Mi AHA/BHA/PHA cleansing bar a while ago but never used it on my face. I have been using it on my chest/back/arms in the shower and it has been helped the occasional back/shoulder pimples. 10/10 recommend!

Even if a product has "a drying form of alcohol" it doesn't mean AT ALL that the finished product will be drying. Especially, in the mentioned product, where there is so little of it in the formula.

Absolutely formulation is king! I, however, am sensitive to pretty much any amount so I always point it out in that sense. It's nuanced for sure and not going to bother all people.

Hi Kelly I use azelaic acid three days a week face/neck/chest (geek and gorgeous Apad) and the PC calm 1% BHA once a week nose and chin only. I have ultra sensitive, very dry, mature, rosacea and eczema prone skin for info. I use the BHA for keeping the pores clear, as I use a lot of rich products to treat my very dry skin. For body I like the Ammeliorate lactic acid unscented lotion a couple of times a week. Me and glycolic don't get on well together tbh - it stings/burns. I can use PHA's or a small amount of mandelic acid on the areas where I'm not using BHA once a week. Lactic acid on the face isn't my favourite either and i much prefer the mandelic or PHA. I think it can take some trial and error to find what suits especially sensitive skin. Best wishes.

I love this video, this is what I needed Kelly! I've tried the Paula's Choice BHA and liked it but stuck with Cosrx BHA (and the AHA) liquid. Fast forward to last year where I developed some acne issues actually identical to the photo you showed of 2015 (for the first time since my sensitive skin is dehydrated and dry) and got prescribed skinoren (15% azelaic acid) and differin (adapalene 0.1%) for AM and PM respectively. After some adjustment period, my skin is looking better with every passing week, even if I still get the odd breakouts or texture and ccs on my cheek areas. Would it be too much to add the BHA back in for my clogged t-zone (especially around my nose) maybe once or twice a week? I've tried to stay away from mixing in any other active ingredients and focused on hydration and keeping my skin barrier as happy as possible. Thank you for another really insightful video!

Put some respect on that bump eraser when you use it. The first time I used it I rubbed it like a sugar scrub and caused big bumps, almost like hives, to pop out. The second time I used it (like a month later) I was super super gentle massaging it across my skin and it went much better.

I'm not Kelly hahah but I think my top recommendations would be the Holika Holika Good Cera Super Ceramide Cream (what a mouthful..), the Pyunkang Yul Ato Cream Blue Label, the Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream or the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B6 (without SPF), as a non-Korean alternative. The first one may be a bit more on the expensive side but I find it pleasant to use even in summer. The other three are definitely significantly more thick and create a really moisturizing, protective layer over your skin. They all work super well with my retinols and acids though!

For an exfoliating 'toner', like PC's BHA 2%, do you recommend that for right after cleansing or after actual hydrating toners? PC advertises their toners as being used before their exfoliants to "prepare the skin for exfoliation", but many voices online otherwise say to exfoliate before toners.

Yesss to BHA and Azeliac Acid!! I used to love AHA, but one day my skin started itching like crazy when I used glycolic acid :( So I decided to use mandelic acid instead bc it’s gentler, but my skin still itches badly when using it 😭😭 Idk how my skin grew to be sensitive to AHAs, I was sad lol.
