BC rivers haves a personality that keep changing every spring. New passages open, deep holes are created, trees fall. All of it changes your perspective of how to fish that area. Moreover, you are angling for a smart vertebrate that has just as much will to live as you. When you hook one, the satisfaction flowing through your chest is enough to remind you why you fight to preserve this wilderness and why you keep coming back to tap into the little piece of heaven. That's why we never give it up or get bored.

I wonder how many of us...have traveled the same road , in our mind and on the stream, but have never learned the art of "Bonn Homie", and never become guides or pros...but have fished just as intently. We have never posted our 'trophies' on you tube, or mounted a fish for the wall...but have memories no less epic.

The most important thing about fishing is the people you meet not the fish. All my best memories about fishing wouldn't be the same without the people I've met on my journeys.

"Unfortunately, the best fishermen are also often the best liars." My good fishing buddy told me of his grandfather, an excellent Newfoundland salmon fly fisher. He always carried three fly books. The first, full of junk was shown to strangers who asked what patterns he used. The second, containing a reasonable assortment was shown to friends who asked the same question. The third, of course was what he actually used.

Fishermen that need to lie are not fishing the Pacific Northwest and Vancouver Island. Fly tying, casting, wading, fly clyb adjusting to the season, the and type of fish surrounded by rain forest, ringing rivers, glass surrfaced lakes and mountains is enough that even an occasional skunk is something to talk about. Those that b.s. about fish they caught haven't caught on to the essence of the art and science of fishing the fly.

Curious as to where your title/name "Captain" came from. Was it the military, law enforcement, Salvation Army, tuna boat skipper, confused gender singing group, etc.? Did you win the title in a raffle or game of chance? I find it very unusual for someone to be called/named Captain and not be active in ones uniformed service or profession where such a title is bestowed. It is my understanding that *only Colonels and higher ranked officers retain the title after service*. That would include a Navy Captain and up through the Admiral ranks. You are far too young to have attained such rank in service and it has left me wondering how it came about.
@counterpoint6718
@counterpoint6718 5 жыл бұрын
On re-reading my comment I realized that, while I was writing about respect for title, I was being disrespectful. My apologies. I am a veteran, born and raised in a military family - both my father and grandfather were career military. Regrettably, my bias shows at time, even after all these years. I've come to realize that you are using "artistic license" to rewrite the rules. You are using a pseudonym, a stage name. For reason, I might be one to challenge this rule change, but not now. Your videos are first class; very polished videos to say the least. They are on target as to subject and delivered sincerely. Quite possibly the most comfortable narrative on KZfaq. Your videos have an aire of confidence about them that I perceive as genuine and honest. A rare quality these days. You are publicizing conservation issues dear to me which warrant my support, for which you now have it. Again, please excuse my irritability and except my honest apology.
