Jill,you are truly incredible! At my 79 yrs. I watch you and just shake my head in amazement. The 24" pieces were outstanding...but these 3 ft are totally awesome! I know how folks are and I just hope you're not setting yourself up for having much more one your plate that you can imagine. Folks should just pay for what YOU do without expecting you to give free lessons. Love your stories, but dohn't want you to get burned out. I'd miss our visits. God Bless Yoou.

Jill, those are just beautiful ... you must have an engineering degree (or think like an engineer) to do such wonderful work! I love how you put the tip on one finger, but then use a different finger to press the Popsicle stick into the hot glue!! You are too funny! Thanks for sharing -Cindy

I don't have the sense I was born with. You know what is really funny, I went to school for hairdressing, did that for three days and never did it again after I graduated. I then worked for years in technical support for the internet which was a foreign language to me but I learned and became a technical geek. Now I am retired from that, took on taking care of my precious Grand children and decided to start a business in my spare time LOL. I work while I sleep, now that is a challenge Have a wonderful evening Cindy. God Bless.

Jill your creativity and talent are beyond awesome! I've gone back and watched all of your videos once I found your channel. You've inspired another level of creativity in me. I purchased a silhouette and I've learned so much from your teaching. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. It's awesome how you share with us just like you're talking to a good girlfriend while you work!!! I can hardly wait to get your tutorials. Thank you! Thank you! I pray that God continues to bless your family, your business, your life and takes you to higher heights.

Thanks for another great video Jill. I absolutely love to watch. You don't know how watching your videos seriously brightens up my day. Especially today, I'm trying to start my own little business but it seems like all I get are inquiries and no call backs 😔. Idk if I should give up or keep trying. Did you have that problem when you first started out. I bet you where an instant success huh? Love ya Jill, thanks for cheering me up. 😊
@cricflix8 жыл бұрын
Hi Sweet Pris, if it makes you feel any better the answer to your question is no I was not an overnight success. I got a sale the day I opened my shop and was so excited then I didn't get another one for a year LMBO. Thankfully I had a job so it wasn't that important but I stuck with it until I hit what folks were looking for. I worked five years reinvesting everything back into my business until I finally got to a point that it was doing well enough for me that I got to retire from my "real" job. Don't give up if it is something you really want but make sure that what you do is something you yourself would buy, I am referring to quality. Bad feedback is a killer for someone in this type of business. I had folks that didn't discourage me but nor did they encourage me, they thought it was a pipe dream. I have made my family proud of how I did this on my own especially given my age and the technical side of some of the things I had to learn. Keep in mind, I owned my first computer after the age of 40 and believe me I have had to learn a ton, I am from the era of push key typewriters LOL. Don't give up!!!!!!

Don't worry about it. You do so much on KZfaq for crafters like myself. If I would've found your channel a few months earlier (3 years ago) I wouldn't had to cut out my daughter's center pieces by hand. But because of your tutorials over the past few years I was able to make beautiful centerpieces for my nephew's baby shower this past May.

That is awesome that you are learning the art of creating and not having to do it all by hand, I did that when I first started my business and was using the Cricut. Once I got a Cameo the Cricut stuff is out of here......LOL

Your centerpieces are always so clear. How do you get the pictures to print so nicely? I always use 300dpi images but they don't come out as clear as yours.

I always print using BEST quality on my printer. It doesn't matter what DPI you are using if your printer is set to the default which is typically draft mode.

Jill - I 'd love to know what projector you have we have been looking at a few different ones and don't want to make a mistake in picking one. Just want to say that I have learned so much from you, I am not in business for myself just for my grandchildren's party and such but just awesome to be able to make the kids happy. Anyone out there who wonders why Jill says this looks easy but it's not is because it is not easy! I have not even attempted more than a 1 foot piece! LOL
@cricflix8 жыл бұрын
LOL. Thank you for the words of support, it isn't easy but I think folks jump in thinking it is going to be a piece of cake, NOT...it takes practice. I learn something new everyday, and they say you can't teach old dogs new tricks, not true and I am proof. God Bless

Jill, I thank you so very much! You see my husband is in stage 4 renal failure and is on dialysis and on the Kidney transplant list and as a result we cannot be more than 2.5 hours away from home if we are he comes OFF the list! So our Disney trip in February and our yearly trips to Cape Cod with our two children, daughter in law and 5 grandchildren is over until he receives a kidney. So we have gone to the backyard vacation we have an outdoor pizza oven, 36 inch griddle, wok, 3 gas burner range, outdoor oven, many types of grills and smokers, popcorn machine, cotton candy machine and a snow cone machine all so that papa may enjoy his family in the backyard! PLEASE know that you are aTRUE blessing to me and a source of encouragement! My husband and I pray for Kendall since the very first and we hang on to EACH and EVERY blessing that comes in her healing. Also, our own precious daughter is divorced and the challenges and heartache that comes from divorce we both share…So your heart speaks to my heart and I thank my Lord for this thing they call youtube computer silhouette all those things that brought me to you! Love Hugs and Prayers from Farmington CT!

Hi Jill, Do you make backings for all your centerpieces or just the ones that are not double sided. Making centerpieces and just wanted to know if I need to make a plain black backing or just do the double side images
@cricflix8 жыл бұрын
All of my pieces done out of 110 lb weight paper do not have a back, the lighter weight paper always as a backing to make them heavier and stronger centerpieces.
@MsWelch128 жыл бұрын
So If I use 100 or 110 lb weight don't need a backing, just do the double side with the Popsicle sticks
@cricflix8 жыл бұрын
100 lb I use a backing.
@MsWelch128 жыл бұрын
Sorry to keep asking questions but I want to make sure I do it right and it is not a disaster. So use a backing on both images to make centerpieces. I'm making mirrored images so that it will show on both sides.
@cricflix8 жыл бұрын
I am not quite sure if I understand what you are doing or how. I print the image and then I print the flip of the same image so I have two pieces. I then do an offset of the image sized at .05, I cut that out of either white cardstock or black. I cut out two. So then I tape the images to the backing which is the offset piece. Then I place my sticks on one side and when that is done I take the flipped image and glue that on the other side of the sticks. Hope that makes sense.

I heard you say before that people have stolen your exact photos but you just said they are taking your videos. Does that mean then copy and paste the photos your taking of your work and using it? Are they using this exact video with you in it on their own channel? I was confused because I can't see how they could or would do this. I see other shops on etsy selling similar product.
@cricflix8 жыл бұрын
I probably made a mistake describing what I meant, no one is taking my videos, they are taking my photos off of my shop and using them. I know that what I do will surely open a can of worms for folks doing exactly what I do but we live in a big world and there is always room for more folks making a dream come true starting a business but get your own camera LOL.
@melindas55058 жыл бұрын

You should start using watermarks on you pictures you post on Etsy. That way if they won't be able to still them. Also, you should be able to report them as a fraud. You should also find out if you can block them from watching your videos.
