I saw another video from Rico's Reef where he had the same issue with flow on the opposite side of the overflow. He ended up putting two gyre wav pumps where you put the MP40's but he was able to stick them to the eurobracing instead of the glass and it looked cleaner that way.

I've got the same tank setup : 230gal peninsula that is 1.75m by 1m by 50cm eurobraced. What I ultimately did in terms of flow is having 2 gyres facing each other : one on the far end of the tank (this one is fixed on the brace), the other on the overflow box. this way I find it less invasive that the vortechs you have. I also aded 2 neptune wave pumps on the back wall for an extra punch towards the end of the tank. It seems to pretty much doing the trick! I also used these kind of cord covers but found out that they will drop with time and humidity building on them.

I think it looks great, I always use uv on every tank I have from day one. The mp's look fine on the end, to me I love the look of mechanical features on tanks.

I'd use Gyres at the display end of the tank as I think it would look a lot better.

You could put them in the corners of the tank, vertically. And potentially even have one near the surface of the water. I think it would be less of an eye catcher.

Hit it with fritz turbo start in doses. Also load up on copapods. Adding different new bacteria will give it a push in right direction.

That tank would look amazing with a nice sand bottom!

I just this week solved my problem with dino using Dino X. Stuff works great.

I did too. Twice. And twice I lost my shrimps, crabs and one fish and sea star. I have a small tank (125l plus sump of 35 l) and had to set the skimmer a little higher than usual. It led to overflowing my skimmercup again and again. Now I have learned to take off the skimmer cup so the skimmer moves a lot of water combined with a lot of oxygen through the bubbles, the only way I think to handle Dino X. Maybe there's one other solution: add a big air pump and place two or three air stones or something the like in your sump because that gives the same effect (it's a pity they don't teach you that in the instruction accompanying the product). Learning "on the job". But hell was I mad about losing those animals...

@@martijnvanbeek4387 that sucks man, sorry to hear that. It's really hard losing animals. I had zero problems but I watch my tank like a hawk when I'm treating it. I have no problem canceling other activities just to stay with my tank and monitor the treatment.

Hope the dinos are over for you. Maybe just some anecdotal evidence, but a few years ago I had a dino outbreak and treated it like you just did except went with a three day blackout. I regretted it, 3 days is too long and I lost a bunch of SPS. The extra day of blackout really stressed them out and I saw a lot of STN after that.

Aaah you got the free floating type. You lucky as hell. It's the one that doesn't float away that is the pain. That's the one I'm fighting right now. UV doesn't work well on these.

I had two outbreaks. First was due to new tank syndrome and a UV solved it. Second was due to my phosphate dropping to 0.

How long did you wait before adding sps? I have some mortalities in my frag system but the tank is only 4 months old and it was dry rock/bare bottom.
@ReefBum

I did not add SPS until 5 months in.

Did you try the iron approach that was mentioned in one of your interviews?
@ReefBum

I did try it for a couple of weeks and did not see results but perhaps I should have stuck with it longer. UV was the ticket though.

I think dinos is probably the worst thing that has happened to me, right up there with velvet and AEFW. Thank god i dealt with it months ago but it was a 6 month battle.
