If you're wanting to become an assessor you would usually need a degree in a scientific subject such as chemistry or pharmacy. We don't teach people to become assessor's so I'd recommend looking into the required qualifications and experience needed. :)

Hi Sangeeta, thank you for listening to our podcast episode. We cover the legislation in 48 countries in our courses. However, as we stress in our courses, as well as on this free podcast, we feel that cosmetic formulators should strive to meet the highest legislative standards when they create their products. Not only will this approach make them more competitive, but it will also allow them to sell all over the world. The cosmetic regulations in the USA are weak, which is why so many unpreserved and poorly formulated products are available on the market. There is no requirement for microbial testing, or even formal assessment, before products are brought to market. We explain this in detail in our courses and also touch on it in this podcast. Furthermore, it is very likely that other countries are likely to harmonise in the future (as we also discuss in the podcast), which is why any formulator should carefully consider whether they want to prepare themselves now or find themselves playing catch-up later. I'm sure you appreciate that we're not going to cover the legislative requirements for all other regions of the world on our podcast. However, should you choose to enrol with us at Formula Botanica, then we will certainly highlight the differences between the main cosmetics regulations that our students deal with - including those in the USA.
