Do you want to take the frustration out of job seeking? Frame it as an open-ended learning journey;
as a chance to connect and learn from others. Then everything else starts to fall into place. Dan is a careers coach who is passionate about helping people make good career choices. He works
for Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. He spent 6 years in a Fintech Startup and 10 years working for an Investment Bank. He also ran a nightclub, worked as a librarian, laboured for a blacksmith, worked as a personal trainer and shrink-wrapped carpets for a living - among other things.
Having tried so many different paths, he thinks he’s perfectly placed to help others in their careers. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Very helpful and easy to follow Thanks Dan! Also really appreciate you making time for sessions with students /alumni / groups during this time (as connected on Linkedin earlier) One thing I learnt from my time at SBS and the journey I made to it - It will make a great positive difference for incoming students if they had this knowledge you share here before term commences in September, and actually work on the 1st two steps of 'Self Discovery' and 'Explore' through such an online based guiding programme in the months prior to commencing the degree. This would really help them hit the road running when they join SBS and make the most of the year... What are your thoughts?

@@akankshaanand6773 I totally agree - it's one of the reasons I wanted to do this talk, to get students and others who are considering career transitions thinking about this as soon as possible

Excellent advice for job seekers of any age Dan, I wish I’d had this type of advice when I was first starting out. I might not have ended up in so many jobs I hated!!

Worth watching.. Especially fo ppl to land a decent job.. 1. Self knowledge (know yourself better) 2. Explore the options (do research) 3. CV (prepare curriculum Vitae) Ps: one should follow in order from top and not vice versa to get better results... Bonus: Building network👍 Asum Dan!!

@Dan and I had a session together where I took career advice from him. Really interesting advice and very positively reinforcing in all ways. He has been making an effort to reach out to multiple people who have been affected by the pandemic and this video is so apt! I'm sure this will be useful to many job seekers out there. Thanks Dan!

It's a lot of work to tailor your cover letter. Most companies dont even look at your cover letter. I'd suggest focus on your CV, and write a simple email in your application.
