If your advanced enough to defend yourself with a bladed karambit, should consider using a karambit trainer instead, will keep you from killing someone unnecessarily and will be very useful in aiding with joint manipulation... Just a thought. Great video!!

hey Jaime i made some training karambits out of my kitchen cutting board. i just created the design on paper and transfered it to the cutting board. all youll need is simple tools like a hacksaw some sand paper and a decent knife to carve the blade to your liking. may sound silly but let me tell you it makes an amazing trainer and doesnt take all that long. ive taken my cutting board karambits and used them as templates for my actual steel karambits seeing how ive gotten into knife making. its a great hobby and quite satisfying

+Kali Center Thank you for sharing... I know most of these Karambit strikes, but simply knowing the different angles that I can attack with, it doesn't tell what I can accomplish by doing so. I was practicing on my own, just getting used to the movements, so seeing this video, was like finding the missing pieces in a puzzle. Now I just need to get 2 training Karambit's, so I can practice the intricacies .

Look up Jason Ha and Graham Harper from UW, Seattle. Harper decided to jump Ha, Ha pulled out a karambit, fearing for his life and "waved it around in front of me hoping to stop the guy." Harper was eviscerated, intestines hanging out and now walks with a cane.... watching these guys play fight 🤣😂🤣. In real life these knives are f*cking deadly, Ha didn't have any training and he definitely stopped his attacker.

It IS one of the most devastating knives out there. But with that comes other aspects of owning one (if legal where you live) and using one for "self-defence". What these videos NEVER mention is the aftermath of a knife fight. Even if you're protecting yourself. And that is the attacker, though in the wrong, might still end up taking the victim to court. Or his family will. Same holds true when people use guns to defend. There are serious court costs that can bankrupt the average person. Court costs that can near $250,000.00. Add it's hard for a lawyer to defend you against...as the lawyer for the attacker can focus on the design of the knife...the curve...say the "victim" bought one with the INTENTION of getting into a knife fight to do horrific damage. The design while effective in use...can end up hurting you in the long run...in court. Too many guys live in an "action film dream world". So they buy a few Karambits and take a few courses at a Kali school. Or just watch a few KZfaq videos and practice at home. Injuring themselves and others. And then get their firearms licence...take some courses. And maybe study Krav Maga. thinking their now a real badass. A Jason Bourne. Failing to consider that you won't be sent on your way after a 1 min talk with a LEO on the scene. There's a high super expensive legal fees and the trauma of the fight. Most have NEVER been in a real knife fight. Never will. Only people who might be able to "practice it for real" are the military. And various SPEC OPS people. Is it worth the trouble afterwards??

@@AGC828 ... would you rather be dead, or your family? A weapon in the hands of a responsible person is a shield, only to be used as a last resort. Criminals that want to hurt you or other people do not care about anything. Be responsible, do not pull your weapon unless you have no other option.

My recent video is an opinion but it doesn’t have to be other people’s opinion. If someone prefers to carry a Karambit as edc they should. The point of that video is encourage people to train with what they want to carry and not carry because they someone else make some “cool” looking videos.

I feel as though there is a flaw in the 1st dissarm. There are 9 bone plates in the wrist? So whats stopping the karambit from catching and hooking underneath the bone/plate in the wrist? The techiques are on point and actually follow closely with Muay Thai! Even though the dissarm would still be very effective because of the cutting of the tendons and muscle, which as you know the tendons and muscle in the forearm is what controls grip, I feel as though teaching to rake it the length of the entire arm and hand is a little impractical. That means you would have to hold it light enough to make it past the radias and ulna joining as well as the 9 plates in the wrist, and even though possible if your in a knife fight your more than likely not going to have enough control due to adrenaline to have that much discopline. Also, the initial slap with the left hand on the opening jab isnt neccesary at all. Using the forearm of the karambit hand would work just as well. Slapping with the left hand is just for show and actually slows down the process slightly.

Even marcaida said that he also learn carambit at Merpati Putih Silat in Indonesia and also by one of Indonesia Air force Instructor. Base on the people of Minangkabau ( Indonesia ), Carambit is the word by tagalog and melayu language. The word came from minangkabau language _ The Original name is Kurambiak , Kurai mean Curve and Ambiak mean Take it. So Curambiak means to Deliver a Curve attack and then take it. The modern carambit is base on Silat Harimau ( Tiger Silat ). But Kurambiak from minangkabau Indonesia originally from Silat Elang ( Eagle Silat ) because is originally from how eagle hunt the prey by that curve claw. In modern Carambit , people say carambit from Tiger Claw. Its not wrong either. Because there is many form of Silat. And the move Marchaida show in his video is from Silat Elang/ Eagle Silat. In indonesia military , The Instructor usually have the knowledge in both type Eagle Silat and Tiger Silat.

I wouldn't bother with this open handed. if you are intending to protect yourself empty handed then learn jujitsu and muay Thai. knowing even the basics of these two styles can really save your ass in a confrontation. but while it is good to know those it is nice to have that equalizer on you, because you can't count on an assailant being unarmed. if you aren't prepared to use lethal force on somebody don't carry a knife. carry a baton. there are collapsible batons you can buy that are lightweight and small but are still powerful enough to break a forearm and incapacitate an attacker

Depends on where you live. some places Batons are illegal to carry but you can carry a folder knife. Just depends on laws and if you caret o follow them. ;)

Ha that's true, where I live there aren't too many restrictions on what you can an can't carry.

marko zuurveld There's also a bunch of websites that make replicas of the karambits from CS:GO if you're a fan of the game (as you can see from my profile pic). They are pretty detailed, well built, and can be razor sharp with a tiny bit of sharpening.

Thanks for these tips! In my opinion exposing your thumb like you do on top of the ring is not the right way to go. Keep it curled with the rest of your fingers and and leave the top of that ring open as another impact device. Cheers Blazin'Blades
