@@marcpompette7431 I'm coming up on age 34. I have zero experience with music other than drumming in my car while drive, I have a tin ear/I'm tone deaf, I sound so horrible when I sing that I won't even sing Christmas songs... but I am shredding on my little electric kit. I've got the beat for James Brown - Cold Sweat, rock and pop grooves are already pretty boring... I'm working on entry level jazz standards and breakbeats. If I can learn an instrument, anyone can.

I like the subtraction method. Anyone can play straight 16th fills. It’s more musical and interesting to subtract notes. Thanks!

I've been playing for a long time ....and never thought of the random method, on top of using stick control to implement that technique the way you have. Thanks Stephen!

Use “you’re” instead of “your” If you’re going to comment don’t spell like a child please!

Well said Michael, I'd add that Stephen is far from a "child", most definitely an adult teacher of, no doubt, all ages ("children" included 😜) and I have found his style, tips and hacks invaluable as I first sat at a drum kit a few months ago when I bought my first drum kit. Furthermore, he most definitely is a drummer, unless my definition of the same is completely inaccurate. Such comments are a typical indicators of narcissism, and simple grammatical errors and/or misspelt/incorrectly punctuated words are typical of a young child just learning written english and in this instance these comments should have been kept to the author’s (being polite) self!

There will always be “Negative Nancy’s” on public forums. Likely this person believes he is much to advanced to learn anything from anyone. I believe that when you think nobody can teach you anything, you’re stuck right where you are. Stephen’s lessons are a valuable tool in my goal to become more confident in my abilities, even though I’ve been playing since forever!
