Toowoomba pasta is a dish offered at Outback Steakhouses located in South Korea. This recipe hack claims that cooking a specific brand of instant ramen in milk and adding a couple of ingredients make a comparable dupe in about 3 minutes. Let's do this!

I think I'll try that tonight. Thanks for sharing. Update for anyone interested and/or thinking of making this Ramen: I made this using lobster Ramen, which is just slightly spicy, but not too much (not a fan of overly-spicy food). Once the cooking in milk process was complete, I added a small amount of peas, a small diced fresh tomato from my garden and sliced green onion. The only seasoning I used was the seasoning packet that came with the Ramen. And let me tell you, it was probably the best Ramen I've ever eaten in my life.

I live in Toowoomba.. “Toowoomba pasta” is unheard of here, so weird, and seafood? What?! We’re on top of a mountain range in regional Queensland, not on the ocean. Honestly, I wish Outback Steakhouse had actual Australian food on their menu instead of just having US foods and slapping an Australian place name on them willy nilly. They should serve bush foods, meat pies, damper, and kangaroo steak. Oh, and lamingtons.. which were invented in Brisbane, not far from Toowoomba.

Actually saw this video late last night, and was hungry for a snack in the middle of the night because of it. Lo and behold, while doing some grocery shopping, I found the same Ottogi Jin ramen at the store and without a single thought in my head, grabbed a pack to give this recipe a try. I did it as per the video - except for the gochugaru, which I swapped for a dash of paprika and a packet of chili flakes, and added a couple sticks of imitation crab - and I got to say: it is absolutely lovely. Love love love the creaminess of it, and the added spice actually made the whole meal even better for me. Though I do have to try the ramen on its own because I never tried this brand before lol Thanks Emmy for sharing this 😘

As an Aussie, I just can’t with outback steakhouse. It takes our culture and place names and uses them to sell food which isn’t ours and doesn’t represent us. When even the daily mail calls you “tone deaf” and “culturally insensitive” you know you have a problem. That ramen looks delicious, but it has nothing to do with Toowoomba.

Instead of cooking in milk, I cook my favorite spicy ramen in water and then add sour cream at the end - it gives a bit of a tangy kick and it cools the spice! When you add an egg, green onions, shrimp/chicken... creamy ramen perfection.

Outback Steakhouse has SO much to answer for. There's no such thing as 'Toowoomba style' noodles. I lived there for several years. The only way you could make this Toowoomba style is to remove the whole dish and replace it with a massive steak. It's a country city that's in the middle of a bible belt. Beef and God. That's about it. Oh and a major trucking highway from north to south. Outback Steakhouse seems to just pick words and put them together with foods they think Americans would like.

This looks delicious! Wondering why you need to cook the noodles and dried veggies in water first. Couldn’t you just cook it in milk from the beginning?
@tommj4365
@tommj4365 2 жыл бұрын
I guess to remove the starch, but it seems you'd wanna keep it to help thicken the sauce. With whole milk that might be too thick though, skim might work fine, or those plant based ones cut with a little water
