I'm a huge supporter of Black women taking care of and rocking their natural hair. Our hair is so beautiful, unique and versatile. In my humble opinion, Black women generate a different type of beauty when we rock our healthy natural hair regardless of the length. One of my favorite pics of you is your KZfaq channel profile pic. Im a 3 month protective style warrior 😂 i used to have take downs similar to this video but now my takedowns are a breeze. Heres What ive learned from leaving my hair in 3 months at a time over 7 times already… Dry hair locks Moisturized hair doesnt Thats why when you get locs you just shampoo and retwist because any moisture is prolonging your hair from locking I currently have mini twists in im on month two and they still look moisturized and will be easy to take down due to my moisture routine. Next time spray your hair daily with water and aloe vera or leave in conditioner. Add oil and glycerin every other day and thank me later q

@evacapri9769
@evacapri9769 26 күн бұрын
@@MilkyWay-vr7ku hi no it shouldnt smell. Youre going to have to reset your hair by letting apple cider vinegar and water mixture sit in your hair like a conditioner then shampoo and wash like normal to get the smell and bacteria out. The only time ive had a smell to my hair is if it wasnt allowed to air dry completely and water was trapped in the root of my hair like in a wet bun or wet style. Make sure your water is changed out of your spray bottle weekly to prevent bacteria infection if youre having that problem. Also Only spray enough to dampen the hair not drench and be sure to let it dry before covering with anything like wigs or bonnets. Hope this helps

I do mini braids, but I keep them in for at least 3 months at a time. The key is to redo them often. At the month mark, I take my time and redo each one, as long as you don’t share strands and you keep them moisturized, there shouldn’t be any breakage or tangles 🥰

It was a dare between my mom and I. 7 months with small braids. I used my hair only for braids. The takedown was hell as my roots were interlocked with each other. I normally leave them for 3 months and I'm okay, but 7 months was a lesson learnt. Also I tend to keep my mini twists in for max 6 weeks. They are washed and moisturised weekly after the 2 week mark. I found that helped with separating the hair so it does not tangle together.

I do small/medium braids (fine hair so I cannot do twists-tangling galore) but for me, lightly spritzing the hair versus fully submerging in water helped with the longevity of the style. I would gently squeeze a water based moisturizer mixed with a little bit of oil or grease into my hair. For me, the more I wet my hair, the frizzier it became and the more it began to loc. so I don’t wet mine often. I’d spray my scalp/perimeter and ends occasionally. I re-do maybe every 3-4 weeks. I just take one braid out at a time and rebraid it-I never take all of them out at once. When refreshing I just add a little oil and undo. No tangling or massive clumps of hair. For me, the more water used, the faster the hair will shrink/expand and loc over time. The less water, with more lubricating products (oil/grease) the longer the style lasted and the easier the takedown was. Also, even though most naturals don’t takedown dry, when you have so much shed hair stuck in one place and wet it, it all shrinks upon itself and creates knots one will have to cut out, hence just using an oil to get them out easier, then use water or conditioner to detangle after all the shed hair is out

I keep all my protective styles in between 6 to 8 weeks. Before each style I prep my hair with leave in Conditioner, and oils. When I wash my hair before and after taking out protective styles I always deep condition. I never have matting or any breakage or excessive shedding. I take care of my hair even when in a protective style

I had starter locs for 7months before I combed them out. I had bad psoriasis on my headline and was just over IT but worth the growth 😂 thinking about doing it again

I went off to college and my hair was transitioning. Got box braids and left them in for 4 months. Went to the salon and she was able to cut off the rest of the relaxer. We were all worried about my hair but it was actually thick and healthy

From experience, my hair starts locking at 3 months. By month 4, the ends in the back of my head start sealing themselves. Last I put some mini twists in, i ended up leaving them so long the take down was too much of a pain, so I just cut the hair 😂😂 But you know what, I am enjoying my new journey. The TWA has been a breeze to take care of and refreshing.

I have had them in for about two months....I think 🤔. I usually wash my hair while in mini twists and then I moisture, detangle and retwist each twist. I retwist 1/3 each day. It takes hours but it is worth it. The growth is insane. I will do a full head take down soon. Thanks for the tip on using the steamer to help take down the twists!!

If its one thing i know, its if you are going to do a protective style for a long period of time. make sure its a loose, simple, hair style with large parts.
