Great episode ! Provisioning a sailboat for extensive travel has always fascinated me. I bought a book, " The Essential Galley Companion " just to help me wrap my head around it. There is so much involved and Grace, you did a killer job of explaining that. You must have been thankful for the help you got. It's the organizational skills your mom possesses that I lack, I wish I could plug into her brain and get some of it😀. Hey Bill how ironic you change out all those blocks and it's the seizing on a halyard clasp that bites you in the ass, what? Also I tried complimenting your narrating skills but apparently someone in upper management feels a little coaching may be in order😅. I tried buddy, I tried 🤣🤣 Good stuff guys!! Be well !!!

We found a Seal-a-Meal and O2 absorbers helped a lot with keeping dry goods fresh and free of critters. With careful use the bags can be used several times. O2 absorbers will kill critters in Tupperware as well. Beer is one of the hardest to store. Cans are not very strong on their sides and there is never enough room. When a can bursts, it's such a mess. You're underway at this point. Safe travels.

thank you for sharing such an informative video! I really appreciate seeing what you stock up on and how you store it all, very impressive. It must be a challenge to know what to do with leftovers, etc. However, I must say that seems like an alarming number of ziplock bags which will become trash in the beautiful South Pacific and some of the most pristine environments our earth has left. I love my washable and reusable silicone zipper containers but when funds are limited, those ziplocs you have can also be easily turned inside out to wash and dry, then used a dozen times!

So overwhelming! Great job planning and finding space. Amazing what you accomplished! I was a bit surprised to see some items (I.e. cookies) that were left in cardboard packages. I also realize Rubbermaid like items, takes up space - so it all comes down to utilizing packaging that can be used for a multitude of uses and keeping the creatures out. I’ve watched a couple of your crossing updates and am so excited for you. What an adventure of a lifetime. Stay safe and enjoy.

French Poly has everything, but its all in one place, Tahiti. And, expensive ? OFF THE CHARTS ! Especially things you can definitely store on the boat, Coffee for instance ! Vegi's, there's a secret, you go to little farms that aren't even advertised, are somewhat secret. That sailbag sure looks good !

In order to reduce critters in pasta, rice and flower you need to freeze all of it for a few days and then divide everything in portions so if one bag gets contaminated the others should be fine.. A bit late now, but it is something for the future... Have a safe trip!!

I have no idea where I'm going to stash my provisions on my tiny boat. Collapsible containers like you have under your table is an awesome idea that I hadn't thought of before. I'll have to do some container provisioning before I do my boat provisioning so that I'll have someplace to put it all.

It's one of the things that I still need to figure out. I need to sit down and try writing out a weekly menu. Add some variety and then hopefully just scale up from there ? It's definitely a bit daunting.

I would have thrown up my hands and just bought as many cans of tuna and bottles of rum as I could fit in the boat...but I'm a guy.......and weevils.....isn't that just extra protein??

That provisioning is like planning meals for an entire Marine Battalion that is in the field on an exercise. Fortunately for the marines they have food service staff to haul and prep it for the marines. Im just glad I dont have to plan or provision like that. How cow dats a lotta food.

I think someone needs to come up with a vineyard by the dock and a mall not too far. Then you could fill up with 150 liters of diesel. 200 liters of white wine. 50 liters of red wine. 10 liters of port. On pump at the dock! hahahahaha

Cheers to a job well done! Here is a recipe for Irish Cream (Bailey's) it's super easy to make if you have a blender and it's way cheaper than Bailey's. 1 can sweetened condensed milk, 1 cup heavy cream, 2 tbls. chocolate syrup, 1 teas. instant coffee 1 teas. vanilla, 1/4 teas. almond extract blend in the blender then add 1 2/3 cups whiskey blend again. Enjoy the adventure!!🌏🏜🏝⛵⚓

Grace, may I recommend that you consider vacuum sealing of all your pasta and other dry foods. The lack of oxygen in the container or bag prevents any "gremlins" from hatching and your food remains safe. I vacuum seal food in bags as well as in jars. Vacuum sealing of food is a fabulous way of preserving your precious cargo over a longer period of time. Thanks for another great video. Love & light from Cape Town. ❤

It’s a mammoth task to do for an extended voyage, anyone who might think that you’re making a bit of a big deal of it hasn’t tried for themselves yet. Well done for the vid, the narrative kept it rolling along well, not always easy to do when covering a subject that some may find of limited interest. Not me I might add, provisioning has never been my strong suit and on too many occasions I’ve found myself with another few days to go ‘till access to fresh supplies, mulling over just how I’m going to make two tins of Borlotti beans, a bag of dried prunes, five tins of mixed chopped veg, two chicken cuppa-soups, a manky cabbage and a bottle of cheap Calvados, into a series of appetising and nutritious meals. ….And then Bill goes and reels in a decent sized Wahoo just to mess the job up. 😂 Hope that you’re still making good miles and enjoying the big beautiful blue. 350 ziplocks? Seems like a lot of plastic. Have you considered an impulse sealer? You can cut right below the seal on packages and then reseal the package it came in for next time just a little shorter. It would drastically reduce your plastic consumption.
