I just started using frogs literally last week. My friend said try it and I did. I got bit and oh my ! I am addicted to using frogs. Again, thanks for the video. “Wouldn’t it be nice to catch one together?” Lmao! The Mister Rogers of Froggin... I’m dyin here. Great stuff as always. Frog is by a long way my favorite way to fish and I never go out without a dedicated frog setup on my kayak. Using a 7’ heavy for me is the way to go. Big guy but I think the kayak makes the heavy work better for hookset than an X.

Great video! I've definitely learned a lot and improved a lot with frog fishing because of your videos. Yesterday evening I went on a body of water where a lot of guys throw frogs, but all from bass boats or the bank. Being a kayak angler has its perks! I found a 6 inch deep channel that went on for a good 100' that opened up to a semi open water Lily pad field that was untouched by anglers. It was like stepping or paddling into another world. Got on some big bass, got some beautiful photos, and some cool slow motion release footage. You and Tim should get those kayaks out more. See if there are places that only small watercraft can get you into that no one else can get to. You may just find a hidden Oasis inside of a heavily fished body of water like I did. Thank you again for all the informative videos! Tight lines 🎣

The reason I throw a frog more than any other topwater is really just the versatility. You can walk it along a brush pile, throw it INTO that brush pile then haul off into 30 yards of pads and grass....it’s equally at home all those places. A lot of guys say they have issues with hookups and I used to. I just woke up one day and said “I’m going to learn how to frog and that’s it...I’m not stopping until I catch something with one”. Went out with determination, caught some and now it’s a confidence bait. Same thing with jigs...I spent nearly 20 years saying “I don’t wanna deal with jigs”. Bit the bullet one day and stuck a decent bass under the FIRST DOCK I put one. Felt a little weight on my line, watched it start moving to the side and BAM...another new confidence bait by the end of day one. You just have to use these baits. They work...trust me, they all work...

You are selling yourself short Matt if you’re not trying a solid bodied frog. The best on the market in my opinion is the Stanley Ribbit frog. I use 40-50 lb braid with a single 5/0 hook with the twist lock. I am absolutely addicted to this frog. It fishes must faster than a hollow frog. I keep one tied on year around. Please give this frog a chance. I think if you try it then you WILL find a place in your arsenal for it. I fish in Alabama. 90% on the Coosa river. I love the videos that you and Tim make. Hopefully y’all will come to the Coosa river and hook into these bad ass spotted bass we have here. Enough preaching hookem good brother.

I use a 7'10" heavy, 65 lb braid, and my preference is a Booyah pad crasher, I learned 2 tricks, I drop a rattle inside and wrap the hooks with braid inside the frog so they don't separate as easy, makes the hooks last 3 times as long. I've also learned when it gets out of the weeds I dead stick it a little longer, then walk it half way back to me. Thanks Matt!!!!
@rg77836 ай бұрын
My favorite frog rod was a 7' 6" Medium Lite Extra Fast Action Avid series spinning rod with 20lb braid. Never had an issue with the line breaking. Did loose a few fish that went into cover. I would reel up to them in my kayak, still under tension, then realized the fush was gone. The point is most people would never even try that set up for frog fishing because advice the one found in this video says the same thing every else says. I am moving up to a 7' 6" medium heavy nrx plus and sure that I'll be just fine.

Whenever the bass are blowing bluegill out of the grass and I want to draw their attention away from the bluegill they are chasing... I have a Bully Wa 2 with a #5 o-ring on it. You can rip it once very hard and the o-ring makes the frog do a 180 and also spits a ton of water, while for the most part the frog stays right in the target area. Pause a couple of seconds and repeat. I am trying to make the most possible commotion with each rip. This technique has been very successful for me and the explosions you get are amazing.

So I've been occasionally throwing a frog in the mornings this summer, actually been throwing it and or a whopper plopper. I have not caught a single fish on either. I've had quite a few swirls on the frog, but it's like they wont commit to blowing up on it. I bought a 7'4" heavy bass x for frogging and paired it with a curado k and 65# braid. I've tried the little Allen, The white version, live targets frog in white. Savage gear a little smaller one in black. The gavacho . Today I down sized to a 7'1" mh and threw the little jackall one you recommended a few videos back. Had one just barely swirl on it.. so either I'm doing something wrong. Fishing it to late in the morning . Or the bass in my lake are crazy, or something. I actually dont fish the frog very long anymore because they wont bite. Last year a caught a few . My home lakes are relatively small compared to how many guys fish it. And its pretty much beat up by now and hard to catch more than a couple fish in a day. I need to start branching out to other semi close public lakes. Which closest one that doesnt have a motor restriction is over 2 hours away.
