3 POINT HITCH REBUILD - Chisel plow fabrication - CNC Plasma and welding - KMC

The top link mount on this old KMC chisel plow was done for. It had been farmer welded a few times, and was due for a complete rebuild, so that's what I did!
The little, but mighty stick welder is called-

Those rigid shank plows are tough on the frame welds because there isn't much to take up the strain of pulling. Spring mounted shanks fare much better cause the springs take the brunt of the abuse. Never mind that material you wasted. I am sure you will find a use for it someday. Remember check fifteen times and cut twice. Good repair...

Nice work. Really enjoyed the video, but as an engineer I would have included some kind of lateral triangulation support to the primary 4" bar similar to the factory setup. The 3 point hitch should do that for you, but an extra member or two wouldn't hurt for extra strength Really wish I could retire, and do this kind of work for a living.

A top link arm has a rose joint on each end. The arm moves in two directions so there is very little lateral force on that part of the hitch. That thickness of plate will outlast the rest of the implement. Adding extra supports just gets in the way of changing the tine spacings or adding extra things like coulters etc.

Nice work as always, you're really getting your money's worth out of that plasma table! I have to ask though, what's going on with the CB700? What fairing is that?

Yeah, the table is what pays the bills these days. No idea about the bike. I've looked it over. It appears to have been laid down at speed as it has severe road rash. I've contacted the people that own that property, but they have no interest in selling anything.

Nice work. I’ll have to checkout that Castle Rock, I looked at it on Google Earth just to get an idea of the terrain. Can a guy get in there ok with a 2 WD vehicle OK?

Yes! I use them a lot. They make it so easy to simply clamp things together at the correct angle.

That guys bale bed looks like it’s falling off

It's a dump bed as well. When the bale arms swing out from the bed, they release the dump pins, which allow the bed to tilt. I guess it was an easy way to manufacture the bed, but I'd prefer to see the dump pins only release when the dump is activated.
