The seller of that truck got WAAAYYY too much money for the used Ram. I couldn't believe how much Alex paid for it. Aftermarket parts or not, that truck was not work 57K. It is well known, at least with my experience and others who I associate with, that aftermarket anything is not included to determine resale value. Look, its just expected that when you add all the expense to spruce up your ride you understand you wont get it back when it comes sale time. Well, in this case the seller did get a bit of it back so this isn't a good example obviously....jeez...

May want to check the trans. I had carrier bearing go out on 05 Dodge 3500 around 150k miles. I started feeling a vibration, 3 shop visits later with all 3 different shops saying they can't feel a vibration and can't find a problem, I found it. The bearing wasn't that much of a problem but it had started having a trans leak, took it into the transmission shop to find the vibration caused a hairline crack in the bellhousing.

Alex, I had similar problems with carrier bearings on a 2014 Ram 3500 2-piece driveshaft while towing a heavy fifth-wheel. I solved my issues with a single (for a 1 piece) 5" aircraft grade aluminum driveshaft with larger u-joints for durability and towing from Driveshaft Specialist in San Antonio. Did the measuring myself with their website Cheat-Sheet template for a custom fit and contacted them by email. And about 10 days later, a very long tube arrived at my home with a brand new custom driveshaft (I kept my old one for later actions if needed). It has been on the truck for over a year and no issues.

I have experienced the same unwillingness to service a 19.5 at a Pilot truck in Shorter AL. I had to beg the guy to break the bead and replace a bad valve stem. He didn't charge me so I could not hold a grudge and tossed him $40 for lunch. When I got home I purchased the tools needed to mount and dismount a 19.5 if needed. I'll be damned if I beg another!

I was on the right path, I guessed U joints for that noise. Glad it held up for you. When I bought my 06 ram 3500 I towed a flatbed trailer to the guys house. I then loaded my F-150 onto it and took it for a good ride. Was it the max it could have towed, no. But it would have been enough for any problems to show up.

Taller, heavier and much more expensive tires. I don't see the point. Probably because there isn't one. Not only do they not increase payload of the truck they reduce it since they add mass. Not to mention unsprung weight.

Also, the taller tire reduces horsepower, which increases fuel consumption. So they are a loose/loose situation.
@rossbrowning2669
@rossbrowning2669 3 жыл бұрын
@@happypappy6371 Theoretically, the taller tire would increase the horsepower the engine would be required to make to over come the load and added stress of turning a larger tire during acceleration. Yet should make it easier to maintain speed, decreasing the amount of steady state hp the engine would be required to make while maintaining speed, while also lowering the RRM required to maintain your chosen speed, which can have a significant affect on your fuel mileage. Keeping in mind that the engine can only make a max amount of hp based on it's rating, I'm sure this truck is somewhere in the 400 range.

@@rossbrowning2669 A taller tire reduces power or requires more power. It will give more speed over the same revolutions and ride over bumps and holes better, but it takes more power to turn the larger radius. Going another direction to show a comparison, use a garden hose. Take one 10 ft long and spin it around keeping the outer end off the ground. Now take one 20 ft long and spin it around the same way. It takes more power to keep the longer hose off the ground. Those lengths are extremes, but show the relationship to power required for the larger radius of the spinning object.

Honestly, Dodge has been spending tons of money to push their brand name at every corner of the car market. I understand that people are brand loyal but the FACT is that Dodge is the most unreliable American cars on the road. They are getting better but the only reliable Dodge is a Cummins truck and that is the only reliable part. When Dodge first put the Cummins in their trucks, they had to have Cummins design their frames because they couldn't build one that wouldn't bend under the torque. Ford or Chevy but I would never buy Dodge, specially for a work vehicle.
