Got a couple good stand locations on my radar and wanna put some quality food in to keep ‘em off the neighbors corn in the daylight, and we need some shooting lanes cut through overgrown pasture. This was by far the worst hunting season of my 39 years of hunting. I didn't see a single deer in rifle season (PA), No luck in archery. Time to regroup for next year. I do apply applicable strategies that you teach. Just nothing worked

Starting a new property design! I’m surrounded by unhunted cover, so I’m thinking waterholes and mock scrapes first. Then hardcore red dossier dogwood plantings next to the cattails. 🤔Lots to think about….!

Got a nice 8 point yesterday evening in PA.numerous doe were coming into a Hayfield almost constantly along with 2 small buck.the doe would exit the field when the small buck entered.last night 7 doe were in the field and I noticed one of the older doe kept looking into the wood line and out stepped my 8 point and surprisingly the doe actually let the bigger Buck come up to them and allowed him to scent check them,maybe because he was an older Buck? Anyway the ladies led to his demise.this is the first time I ever hunted the second rut.found it interesting.

Hi Tex! Man that kid loves being outside! I'm not sure other than it's in his hoof/toe. It's a terribly swollen and he doesn't move around much. It's affecting his weight too.

Wisconsin has too many gun hunts. Keeping them nocturnal, plus Ive seen guys shoot does in the very last days that had fawns the size of mice in her. Wolves are moving into deer food plots now to. Bummer

That's too bad Travis. We enjoy daylight deer in 40 acres...but we give them good food, decent cover but most of all...we don't pressure it. At least in the deer's eyes! And that's with high pressure on 2 sides, houses on another and no deer on another. They just stay on our land until after dark. Now the bad winters up north in the other hand...man they can be BAD!

What about Ontario wooded swamplands? Thick cover and no farm fields. 5°F to -5°F with snow on the ground. Not easy finding food sources. Not pressured on crown land

I love beaver pond edges, giant funnels between wetlands...fresh cuttings. Great opportunity for rattling too.

I just told my kid, "cover your ears!!" He had been watching me shooting at a distance to know how to get a good seal with his palms.... and a muzzle loader isn't a .270win or a .450bm with a muzzle break either.

Good point about the daybreak temp drop. This is a phenomenon I have observed over many years of duck hunting. It is far more noticeable on a clear day than a cloudy one.
