• Sasuchii • Chan • u can tempt them with treats, I do that with my tiel
@mehere80383 жыл бұрын
touch/stick training :) Easy to do through the cage & have them get used to touching the stick in different locations to get a treat, then open the cage door & start doing it through the door too (but make sure they go to it, don't ever invade their space within the cage) & once you've got them trained to that, they'll come as close as they can to the stick as soon as they see it, cause they assosiate it with rewards & positive emotions, so then when the cage door's left open, they'll start to poke their little heads slightly out of it to touch the stick, which you reward with a mega treat & a huge "good girl/boy" that makes them want to do it again. Never pull them out of the cage, the more you do that, the more resistant to leaving it they'll become! Just persist with the touch training everyday & eventually they'll get the idea :) Took my first one maybe a week, other one probably about 3 times that long, she did NOT want to leave her cage!!!!!!!!!!! Eventually she did though, cause she was jealous that the other one was getting more treats Also, make sure your cage has a big door, so they can get used to seeing the outside of it while safely inside the cage. If it doesn't have a big door, I'd just cut one! (I come from a wildlife rescue background, where big doors on cages are incredibly essential for managing the birds, since they're wild birds that don't want to be handled & need to be handled with the least stress possible. Birds I have now were previously in a home with someone who didn't understand how ot care for them & accidentally abused them, they would apparently NEVER leave their cage even when the door was left open, one of them has fused wings she can't use cause of being in a small cage where she couldn't use or stretch them for years :'( She outright refused to come out of the cage with him though! Big door open, neither were keen to begin with, but fairly quickly they got the idea that the outside world wasn't coming in to hurt them & it was safe for them to venture into it & they could retreat back into their cage anytime they liked. I leave the small door open permanently, they occasionally go out it, but anytime I open the big door, they see that as their signal that it's time to come out & I'm around to keep them safe :) (I'm actually trying a bird stand with treat chains on it right now at the open little door to see if I can encourage them out more often while I'm not around watching them)

I'm sooo excited to try these!! I just got a conure from my grandma. He's never been out of his cage and got little to no attention. I was finally able to swoop him because my grandma could see we had a bit of a special bond. Only thing is I've never had a bird. I wouldn't have ever gotten one without researching for way longer than I was able to but I know he's in a better place now sadly. He started getting less aggressive almost immediately now I guess I'm just letting him take his time to calm down a little more then the next step is letting him out. I'm nervous but super excited. He's a great guy.

I'm new to birds, and those guys are BEAUTIFUL! I love that light blue, sea green color that they are... WHAT ARE THEY? I have 2 baby birds that fell out of their nests and I've managed to keep them alive...thank God! I've had both for about 2 months now and they are so sweet and wonderful! I need toys for them to play with, and these are going to make them both so happy. I have a Starling, and a Scrub Jay...and I unfortunately can't release either of them. The Starling had a broken leg, and because it was broken i didn't put any thing for him to perch on, and his other foot didn't develop right. :( His tendons and ligaments didn't get the stretching they needed. I feel horrible about it, but he seems Very happy and he walks, it's just not a normal walk. The Scrub Jay will have to stay with me cause she bonded with me, cause she was VERY young when I found her....the other Jay's in my yard will kill her if I release her...and my yard is FULL of Scrub Jay's! So, I will keep them and hopefully give them happy lives:) Anyways, thank you for the video, and the diy toys...my two little guys are going to love them:)

Finally I found a awesome and simple video about toys for birds. Basically every person that makes a “toys for birds” say “you can find these stuff lying around” and I’m like “WHAAAT!!!!” Who has a hot glue gun on the floor and fake grass? Not me!! This video is really simple and I have paper in my condo so yay!! Thank you for posting a simple and helpful video! I’m really good at making the paper stars. I used to make them when I was younger. When I was 7.

It is, in fact, not a parakeet at all but a parrotlet. Just as small but solid-colored and acts like it's big.

Wow, I love these ideas!! I don't keep birds, but my hamsters will enjoy these. I usually make origami 'water bombs' for my hamsters to chew open. Your little birdies are just too precious!

Thanks a lot for those tips 😁.. I just made that 'seed roll' for my young Senegal parrot, and she loves it!.. She normally has a hard time doing things her self, but after I gave the the 'roll' it wasn't that big a problem any more 😁
