If you have problems with your charger, buy a quality one. How to tell you ask, look for those with a 10 year warranty...built to last, you see?

A good tester is a necessity. I have several solar chargers and at least two but probably 3 AC chargers. Backups for my backups, lol. But you said something about trickle charging a 12-volt battery with the solar panel. Now that sounds interesting. I have one solar charger that must be 20 years old. The battery is toast but the solar still works in the sun. If I can connect it to a 12-volt battery, that would be awesome.

I love using modern things to get up and running, but, I am always thinking, "How would I have to do this if there was no electricity or running water?" I think this way because, like it or not, it can happen. Consider the collapse of the Bronze Age, and realize that we are in basically the same situation of global interconnectivity today. When the dominoes begin to fall, they are all going to come crashing down. I want to be able to continue what I am doing unabated in the event of the collapse of our current Age.

If possible have your system on the lowest part of your property. Rocky and sandy soils, you may have to run a ground wire 6” below your hot wire and have another ground rod in each corner of your property. Cry once when buying equipment vs crying when your livestock gets out and causes a wreck.

Thank you. Your garden and videos inspired me to finally start. Years ago I read about permaculture and dreamed of the day I would start it but I never did. I finally started last fall. Now not only do I have 14 fruit trees started but N fixers like Black Locust, Siberian Pea Shrub, and Seaberry. Many berry bushes and strawberries. I have Jerusalem Artichoke, hops, garlic, comfrey, runner beans, squash from seeds taken from squash given to me by a neighbor, fava beans, and decorative flowers like Nasturtium, wild flowers like tansy and yarrow, wild roses, wild flowering honeysuckle, all planted or growing in random places. It looks like total chaos but that's how I like it. But I still need more mulch.

Cyclops Fence chargers are made in the USA and they are bulletproof had one going on 3 years and only problem I had was during a really bad thunderstorm and got hit by lighting close and rather then blowing the unit up it popped a glass fuse (came with 4 extra) popped a new fuse in and back up and working. Then I added a Wyze WiFi plug on it and now when I’m out working on the fence all I have to do is use the app. If something happens and I think I’ve been hacked I can go to the plug pull it out and plug directly back in and back to secure.

Glad to hear. I am intending to purchase a Cyclops Champ for our property, based on recommendations from a video by a guy who repairs fence chargers.

Billy most things in the USA is built to fail. They do this that way you have to buy more or parts to fix it. Sad but true
