The sigma arts are amazing. Love shooting on the Sigma ART 35 mm f/1.4 but am super tempted to pick up the 24mm for the wider shot!

Hell yeah, the ART line is so money. I would say if you wan't even wider with that shallow depth of field, check out the Sigma 20mm f/1.4! Heard great things about that lens.

Hey Nick! Thanks for your review! Have you used it with any gimbals? I have DJI Ronin SC and wondering how will it behave... might be too heavy. I'm in between of choosing Sigma and Sony 24mm 1.4... Thanks

I actually have the Ronin SC too! Those night shots at the Buckingham fountain in Chicago are all on the gimbal with the 24mm. Works perfectly!!

Hi Nick! Man so sympathetic 👏 my only concerns about this lens is the weight of course and in an all day shoot I don't know. How is the manual focus? And the af of course.

Gotta hit the weight room to carry this thing around all day 😂 and manual focus is butter and I’ve never had any issues with auto focus, fast and smooth!

Coast Academy - Official Club Channel motor noise is very low and yes this is for Sony mirrorless cameras

Hello thx for the review please if you are seeing this answer me please. Hey I have a question please. What Camera is this please ? And is this Lens better than Sony 24-240mm f3.5 - 6.3 oss lens. Which one do you think will be better? I dont know much about lens I have to option to pick one of them today. Also is the Sigma you are using the new version or the old one with 77mm? Thx in advance

it's the 77mm filter. and it totally depends on your needs. This is fixed so you won't get the telephoto shots you would with the 24-240.. but its sharper, better bokeh and better in low light with the f/1.4 aperture. I can't tell you one way or the other which lens to go with - you gotta make that call!

I use s Panasonic S5 with a 24mm Sigma ART and 40mm Sigma ART f/1.4... That's my kit for video along with a DJI RSC 2 Pro and a Ninja V.

@@NickAndersonCreative It does the job and the S5 is a excellent video camera... If you don't use the autistic contrast detect autofocus and stick to manual focus. Plan on getting might grab a 65mm f/2 for the tighter shots. I hate filming on zooms as it distracts me artistically.

i am from ethiopia....i love the way you present ...but from 20mm 1.4 vs 24 mm 1.4 and 35 mm 1.4 which one is better for both music video and weding

I would say the 35mm is the perfect option. I didn't like the 20mm because it was too wide and heavy

Should I buy two lenses for the Sony A7III: 1. Tamron 24mm f2.8 and 2. Sony 50mm f1.8 or just this Sigma 24mm f / 1.4 DG HSM Art Sony E mount that costs like those two. It is currently needed for the purpose of recording music videos, and I would get more lenses later. I also hope it can be used for Zhiyun Weebill S without any problems

How is the AF motor noise? My copy is so damn loud! Even when I have a rode videomic Pro+ on it, it picks up AF noise in video. :(

I've actually never noticed it! Most of the time I'm covering my clips with audio and don't do too much quiet stuff where it has to shift focus, but I'll let you know if I run into any issues!

If you buy the canon version of the lens, it should fit!

So i have this set up, but the 24 sigma art does not autofocus on a face because it says that that feature is not supported with that lens. How are you doing autofocus???

hmmmm that's weird. I'm able to get that to work every time! I know you can't use face detection auto focus if you're shooting in 120fps. But try one of the other modes. Should work fine!

really good, almost as good as a native lens. You can hardly tell the difference

What about breathing, pulsing in autofocus?

I never have any issues. If you put your ear right up to the lens you can hear the autofocus. On board microphone doesn't pick it up though. It's great!

You're supposed to do the focus breathing test when review lenses for video. You need to sit in front of the lens with some objects in the corner of the lens and move your body forward and backward and see if you get some really annoying focus breathing like on those Sony GM2 lenses.
