My uncle bought these types of hoses when they were new and he went through 6 of them in a year before he gave up. They all ruptured eventually. The inside is a latex tubing and that is why they expand but latex tubing was never designed to hold pressure and it is easily damaged by heat or UV rays from the sun. I'll stick with an old fashioned hose that I can leave outside in the sin and only replace every 10-15 years (or when someone drives over the end and smashes it). Love your reviews.

I’m a GC and keep 2 of these hoses in my truck at all times... they are GREAT for what they are good for, a simple easy storable hose and thats it. They take up almost no room compared to another hose of it’s size however the complaints are not really what this product is intended for but they are valid complaints. They do not have a ton of pressure compared to a regular hose (a pressure washer you can forget about it). If not stored properly they begin to dry-rot and can not endure a lot of dragging on the ground, it’s rather fragile to friction. All of that aside for a hose you put away or need in a pinch that you can tuck away and forget about than they are amazing and get the job done. Good review man, love your channel and how genuine you are with your reactions and comments. You can tell you are reviewing these for the first time with us, not for us. Separates you from the rest. Can’t wait for another one 👍🏻

Another great review just in time for summer! I love that you included Bailey. She's such a cutie. I bought the Pocket hose (original version, I guess) at the hardware last Spring when we were power washing the deck. We left it on and connected to the power washer even while taking breaks. We turned off the water when we were done for the day and drained it; no blow outs or leakage. To be honest, it probably was in the shade most of the time as our deck faces north and has a partial roof. I really like how light it is and started using it to water the flowers/plants in the front yard after we finished with the deck. I did drain the water after each use, but hung it on the hose reel on the west side of the house that gets lots of sun. It was still A-OK as of Oct when we put it away. Still chilly in Ohio, so we are a month or two away from seeing how it did over the winter. I got the 25' hose for $19.99, and I'm really impressed with how light it is to carry. I struggled so much with the old hose that most of the time I opted to use a watering can as it was easier than dragging the hose around and then rolling it back up. It did come with a cheap plastic nozzle that looked like the one with the Pocket hose silver bullet, but I always buy a better version like the nozzle that came with the Flexi-hose in plastic. I don't like the metal ones, they seem to anodize? after a while and get more difficult to use. Maybe because we have hard water? Don't know. The plastic ones don't seem to do that. Nozzles do well to last us more than 2 years.

I know this is old, so sort of a bump, but I gave up on pocket hoses about four years ago... but have one in the RV as sort of an emergency as it doesn't take up much room. But, I noticed you have the steel hose there on the ground as you fill up the pocket hose. That's where I ended up and now going on like four years, that's all I use... I do have a couple of the old heavy duty lifetime warranty rubber hoses Craftsman. I use them to extend my reach out into the yard, side of mountain, live in MT. After a year, you can't even see them. I'm going on 8 years now for one of them that goes out about a hundred feet from the house. But for general use around the house, the metal hoses are great, cheap ones, expensive ones, don't let em freeze and enjoy...

I bought one of those hoses about 5 years ago, I loved it. I would remove the water pressure but keep it attached to the outside faucet and hang it on the holder. It was on the north end of the house so it never was stored in the sun. I moved after using it a couple years and never had any use for it so I gave it away but I would by another one if I needed another hose. 👍

Just yesterday I noticed that my dad owns a Pocket Hose Brass Bullet. My mom asked him to wash off the front steps of their house and he needed help with the power washing. He hooked the Pocket Hose to a small handheld, battery operated power washer. The hose did a pretty good job of expanding and having the water enter into the power washer. There was at least one or two times that the hose detached from the power washer and got my dad and me wet. When we were done washing the front steps we disassembled the power washer from the Pocket Hose. That was when the Pocket Hose broke! The long brass part that is attached to the hose itself broke away from the nut like screw that attaches to the power washer. It was stuck in there pretty good and took us a few minutes to get the whole thing detached. My dad didn't seem too phased about the whole thing and just asked me to fold it up and put it away. I wonder if he will ever try to use it again. Not sure it would work anymore though, but hey what can you expect for $19.99. It did the job we needed it for before it broke so I'm not complaining about that. I haven't use it on it's own. I would be interested to see how it works without attaching it to another device.

I have had my black rubber hose for 8 years. I have never brought it inside. It stays attached to my hose bib on the southwest side of my house which may contribute to it's longevity as this side does enjoy the shade in the morning and afternoon due to my neighbors trees. I live in Albuquerque, so the temperature range is extreme. I think the lowest I remember was 20 degrees Fahrenheit and the high was about 105 degrees. I was also concerned about the color, which is black, when I bought this. With the heat and the altitude (1 mile high), I thought the UV factor would kill this hose in a few years, however, it is still the trooper after 8 years of neglect and use. BTW, I bought this bad boy at Home Depot. I trusted their "life expectancy rating" and I think they underestimated that!

We have a version of a pocket hose. And we love it. It still works. Also idk if it's the water spigot, or the hose, but the one we have drains itself if you leave it attached. I got distracted on a task and was gonna drain it after a while and it automatically drained itself. But I love the light weight since we don't have a hose hanger and I have back problems. So this allowed me to still water my newly planted tree, but not worry about lugging a heavy hose around.

I have no experience with these 3 brands and models. but every expandable/flexible hose I've had always ends up leaking after a year or two. This isn't a problem on a normal garden hose. I've had the same RV water hose outside on a spool for at least 10 years. My neighbor has cheap garden hoses that are also at least 10 years old.

Yes!!! Spot on!! Use them, drain them, bring them inside!! Exactly. I do have one. One... It is a 25ft. I have had mine for years without issue. I wouldn't recommend this type of hose for a daily use hose... more so due to the inconveniences of having to pull it in and out. It isn't for everyone. I had an early expanding hose. Mine failed in a matter of days. They are basically a rubber medical-style hose inside of a textile outer wrap. The outer wrap is the key to longevity with these. If it stays in good shape, no problem. If a hole wears in the fabric, the rubber inner hose blows out at the weak point. How easy is it to cause a blow out? How often do you drag a hose across concrete paving or landscape bricks? That is deadly to these hoses.

One observation, when you show the product on the black table with a dark background and, in this case a black product, (1:20, 6:00, 9:00) it's all too dark to see anything. I'd suggest a more contrasting environment. Please keep up the great reviews!

we have the old fashion rubber hoses. but we have to put them away as they don't roll up perfectly. We are thinking about getting something like silver bullet or perhaps a durable metal hose. Any recommendations? Its going be a fathers gift for our dad since he hates rolling up the rubber hoses.

That green nozzle works great except for one detail. If there is even just a small amount of water left in it and it goes below zero (as in water freezing temperature), then the nozzle cracks. So you have to keep it inside during the winter. Otherwise, very good nozzle, for the price.

Actually James, as I remember there was a pocket hose around 2004, very similar to the other retractable hoses. I don’t remember the name of it, but I’m pretty sure they just rebrand it over and over, but these hoses have been around for as long as I can remember, at least the early 2000’s.

Hahahah Baily chasing the water that's funny. I have the pocket hose brass bullet, top brass whatever it is and so far so good. It lasted me all last summer with no leaks. I drain it out after using it but where I store it, it gets sun but not all day and it has held up. My walmart has the newest version of these. I like the little nozzle that comes with it. I had the first version of the pocket hose with plastic fittings and it lasted a week then it leaked. I fixed it then it popped in a different spot. I joined up the two parts and it popped in another spot so I threw it away and kept the fittings. I ended up making my own hose out of the fittings and some clear plastic tubing.

Bought a 100 ft silver bullet hose. 1 - Does not expand to 100 feet and 2 - it takes a large amount of force necessary to take it even halfway. I can go to the end of my garden with my ordinary 100 ft hose. In order to get this halfway there, I had to put a constant pressure on the hose and REALLY pull it! I bought it because of a heart condition and I'm looking for easier ways to do my gardening and still enjoy it. I CANNOT pull it that far for very long. 3 - The amount of water allowed through the hose is minimal. To even get it to stop trickling out of the connection, I had to put it on hard spray and even then I could only water by getting up close to my plants. Unhooking the hose showed that my water pressure was fine, it just would not come through the hose. 4 - It does not "expand" into a hose. At the price point I paid, I expect it to do "as advertised". It definitely does not and I want my money back. I'll take the time to roll my regular hose in and out and spend the extra on a wall-hung roller. Adding this review to as many sites as I can find. Tired of crappy misleading products.

If you ever want to add another to the array, apparently there is an ASOTV product at Home Depot called the Xhose Pro.

So a few things to note about these hoses: 1) they act as giant shock absorbers for the water pressure, so that initial surge is great but if you have low flow be careful since the hoses can shrink after it stabilizes. This also can result in your sprinkler heads losing some range. 2) Only when they are at full pressure do they have the full length. My front yard has great water flow but my backyard is 1950s original and has reduced flow rate making for issues using a sprayer on it. So you can see the hose shrink by 10% to 20% when it stabilizes pressure. 3) the flexi hose and similar hose systems should really have a way to cut off the water at the head so you have the full length to play with when relocating sprinkler heads. Makes it super easy. The Silver Bullet is kind of crap this way. Also, the head will sometime constrict water down to nothing... 4) The Silver Bullet seems the least reliable. I was for sure thinking the Flexi would have cosmetic issues first but I was wrong. 5) TBI Pro is the next one I am going to try. my main thing is I have 1/3 of an acre with most of it front yard and that means I need a long hose. These flexible hoses are great at about 50' but show issues over longer runs.... hopefully this TBI Pro is a great balance between the Silver Bullet 100' and the Pocket Hose 50' I have today. Between these two I feel there is a good solid hose...
