Everyone and their mother has a vehicle
small Delaware has become an expressway
back roads mean nothing today
pull to the right idiots!!!!!
pay attention!!!lights and sirens means here it comes,a FIRE TRUCK!Get off your fuk'n cellphones and pay more attention to your surroundings.When you're side by side with an emergency vehicle,you need to stop and or PULL TO THE RIGHT!!DON'T KEEP TRAVELING!!And these idiot boxes will be the first to complain about a fire siren sounding too much,or waking them up.

I would think the up and down wail, along with short spurts of full peak, would be the most effective. The different frequencies piercing thru would get your attention no matter what. When I was a kid, (late 60's-early 70's) our local fire dept. had these sirens and you could hear them for miles. Of course, we had the huge siren on top of the fire station to call the volunteers, too (not radios like they have now) and it sounded like a air raid siren. Ah, those were the days...

Yes. Power up,coast down with periodic peaks. But ,also terrain,traffic and atmospheric conditions give warrant for specific activations

Actually, sign language was learned way before this run. It's always been horrible in this area. You got all the traffice from Jersey,Maryland,Pennsylvania and Delaware that primarily use this portion of I-95 daily.And if you're just over in Jersey,then you know the headache of this area. but ,it's home and it gives alot of runs annually. Why are there so many fucking keyboard critics for siren use... The reality is that, People hear you, they just don't give a shit. Believe me it's the same way here in NJ, people don't move over at all for us let alone POVs trying to get to the station. Cell phones and other distractions are the problem on today's roads, not pegging the Q.

That "Q" was brand new in 1993 and has been converted from this rig to a 2011 Pierce Arrow XT,and has been blasted like that and still is to this day.

Actually,this Rescue was replaced just over 3 years ago. Never had any problems, device wise. The 2011 Rescue(current rescue) has this "Q" and the same 2 seperate electronic sirens in use in this video on it.Now the Mack MR was too under-powered for this application but still made it from 1993 to 2010.And there are a couple of officers that peak the "Q" from responding to arrival.The officer riding seat in this clip is actually the current Chief.He's been a "Q" peaking officer since he was a young boiah.

@fmartinjr Ahh yeah the town I used to work for the police officers would actually follow us no lights or sirens until we were out of city limits and pull over cars that did not yield and give them tickets. It was an ambulance not a firetruck though. Loved that town.

Some Tokyo Fire dpartments actually have the PA automaticly say, "Please move over and stop, emergency vehicle coming through."

@fmartinjr The outdoor siren (Federal Signal STH-10) sounds like a classic air raid siren from around the World War 2 era. You still hear the STH-10 to this day sounding for tests and fire calls, no matter what the call, unless the call is non-emergency, then the siren doesn't sound.

You should understand that a pitch changing in sound is a lot more noticeable that just one pitch having the Q all the way at the top of it's pitch..

There's really no need for more than half the rigs on fire calls nation-wide,but they still respond,the running cards remain the same. But yes,it is awesome

here in British Columbia Canada,when an emergency vehicle approaches you must pull to the right and stop,ASAP,it is the law and talking on cell phones is now against the law too...makes it easier for guys like you to do their job.

WOW. You sure can tell a volunteer FD from a professional one by the amount of time they lay on that siren. From the time the truck starts up until they arrive, if it’s needed all the way or not!!!!

+I have a life Chill with all that homeboy. Siren usage does not tell the difference between 2 different fire services. And, volunteer and Professional don't necessarily differ the 2 entities. There is Professional Volunteers and Professional Career.That's differentiating the point at hand. The sirens and horns should be utilized for what the district demands. This is my response district and everything was fine to me.

I'm not sure if you heard of The Red Train Heavy Rescue truck of Delaware.Well that new Rescue replaced this truck.And this "Q" is now on that rig.Matter of fact,all three sirens are on that new rig.There is "The Red Train" videos up of the "Q" STILL WORKING.

Sorry your house burned to the ground mam...we were trying to get there but you were in the way!! I used to live in a city that had an ordinance when the fire siren sounded, you were to pull over to the right side of the street and wait till the siren stopped....violators could be fined for not pulling over....trust me....you did NOT want to be on the street when the firemen were answering a call.....the city was rated insurance class 5....for all volunteer department....so you know they did their job!!

If it was 2 1/2 minutes that's good,it's a volunteer fire company.The "Q",that's nothing compared to others.And the right side of the road traveling is because it's an Interstate,and it takes too long to try and get from left to right ,right to left.

Hi Frank,another great video.I know what you are saying.I used to work in Delaware and would have to arrive there on off hours.Start out in NJ by 6 to get there by 8am then 7pm to get home at 8:30pm.But my question is did you guys learn how to use sign language after this run?lol just kidding.Keep posting the great videos you make.

I know all about siren techniques,patterns,taps,blasts or whatever comes in the mix.I am NOT activating the "Q" siren in this video.Even with the "Q" siren at steady peaks,there are 3 different sirens activating here with the addition of air horns.So peaking the "Q" and it not being an effective method of warning and clearing traffic is not a concern here. But I feel you. fmj

I will never figure out why some states allow the use of a siren on a express way. its useless, dangerous, and a waste of time. that poor Q, your going to kill it. power calls suck, period. many states wont allow them because of this, and the same sound is used as a house burglar alarm. even still people don't listen to them. people can't move over because their is no place to go. just how many pirefighters/police themselfs don't hear the sirens in time to pull to the right.

WAY to much q, use the other sirens the truck has, just whenever you are in traffic, use a airhorn, only use the q on a highway, you will waste the battery, and that will lower the ability the truck is in use
